Lehigh Road Railroad Crossing, Woodfern, NJ

This crossing is in a quiet-zone.
This train came through shortly after the oil train passed. It was an eastbound NS Intermodal Train with an SD70M-2 leading an SD60M! Would've preferred to see the SD60M leading, though SD70M-2 leaders ain't exactly a common site either. Also, all of the NS trains that I caught in New Jersey had EMD leaders, which isn't something you see too often on the NS!
This crossing is a pretty nice one along the NS Lehigh Line, as it's in a rather quiet area. The crossing also features a pair of ex-Conrail signals from the 1990s, though the original Safetran Hybrid bells were replaced a few years ago with the current Safetran Type 3s. The crossing is also rather non-standard for a quiet-zone, as it lacks any medians or quad-gates that new quiet-zones are required to have. Wouldn't be too surprised if the FRA says that this crossing isn't "up to code" and revokes the quiet-zone in the future. It also seems like NS busily upgraded the crossings outside of the quiet-zone, but left all of the old Conrail equipment located inside of the quiet-zone alone, other than replacing all of the older mechanical bells.

I don't understand why so many of New Jesery's crossings have "DO NOT STOP ON THE TRACKS" signs on the signals. You'd think they would use "STOP ON RED SIGNAL" signs instead?

I'm guessing that New Jersey really wants drivers to remember that they shouldn't stop on the tracks or something...

I find it an odd choice of wording, too. Perhaps they mean that you shouldn't stop in the tracks when the gates are up in case the crossing activates and traps you.

Do Not Stop on Tracks is the standard wording in the MUTCD.

Ah. The one on the right doesn't go up all the way due to the powerlines on that side. Not sure why the one on the left doesn't go up all the way...consistency?
