On holiday at Oahu, my husband kept hearing this song. We finally hunted the song down. It became a firm favourite, we attended his Kukahi concert and how have all his cds. My husband has since passed on, Kealii was played at his funeral.❤ from England.

Beautiful! While growing up I heard all the stories about Lahaina from my Tutu. He was born & raised there, and like he told my brother & I, it was a very interesting place back in his days 1900's.

Good to hear this again. I am also of the Makekau line. How is Aunty Alice? Was able to see Aunty Leialoha Perkins Apo right before her death last year. She was the granddaughter of Tutu Iamima and passed on many stories about her.

Wonders and beauty of West Maui but some of us have a different opinion. There are families that have been displaced and forced to live on the mainland from pricing and the continued theft/greed. Daniel Palakiko AKA Gonsalez was supposed to be a guest on our aina but instead he took it by threatening adverse possession and he told multiple heirs to leave when they tried to return home. Why would a true heir need to adverse posses? Why are they still paying thousands of dollars in property taxes when they can easily file for kuleana exemption with our genealogy? Many years before Daniel passed he told us he was hanai so is this really how we should treat hanai ohana or even each other? Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

I love one of the opening shots .... the waterfront and the Pioneer Inn. Do contrast this with the aftermath of the recent Lahainaluna Fires, where the "aina" was not respected by the woke, green power, "lolo" advocates. Truly a desecration of the sacredness of the land. I really disliked the response of the Resident. I stayed at the Pioneer Inn many years ago, when I wanted to visit the outer islands (I was born and raised on Oahu), before coming to the mainland.
