I tried it with my M240 and I couldn't believe the microcontrast it produced in the photos. The colours are subtle, yet the image pops out just enough without it being too digital. I am hooked and will be buying one regardless of the cost!

Hi, Goughie! I have the exact same two-lens setup! Although I have the silver chrome 50lux partnered with my 28 Elmarit ASPH. I, too, have a lot more keepers with my 50lux, even though the 28mm is practically glued onto my M240 like 80% of the time. Stay safe and healthy, brother. Much love from the Philippines!

I love my 28mm Elmarit. I ended up selling my 50mm Summilux and bought a 50mm Summarit f/2.5 and haven’t looked back. The most compact and light 50mm lens I’ve ever used. Its sharpness is outdone only by the 50mm Apo, and it still has pretty good bokeh for being a somewhat slower lens. I do miss the rendering of the 50mm Summilux, though.

that's also my setup, but i got the - M10-D (best M so far 😉) - 50mm Summilux asph black chrome This combo matches perfectly together. downside is the weight of the 50 black chrome. bought both used. a lot to invest, but they raised 3000€ over the years. always buy limited ones 😉

Well-done presentation! “Liked.” My Summilux-M 50mm ASPH, a lens with the perfect amount of imperfection, was my first Leica lens purchase, in 2018, a decision I made before I knew which camera I would be acquiring, upon which to use it. I knew that I had liked seeing the Summilux ASPH images I had found on-line. By testing it on pre-owned and demo M9 and M Type 240 cameras, inside the camera store, I knew that it was lens providing that distinct visual signature. I knew that no SLR lens would provide that visual signature, when used with my DSLR cameras. By purchasing pre-owned, I saved money, and knew that this individual lens worked perfectly with the new M10 that I acquired, at the same time. I do plan to keep my Summilux-M 50mm ASPH! It is not my only 50mm M lens, but, it remains the favorite, with the handling qualities, and visual signature, that I want.

I started on the voightlander nokton f1.5 The Leica was way more behaved at f1.4, less CA. The nokton is really an f2.8 lens, very comparable optically to the Leica at f2.8. Focus tab, lens hood and 46mm diameter completed the Leica value.

Great video mate. Just got the 50mm Summicron and opted to save some cash over the lux. I’m new to Leica with my M10 so I’m loving your videos and good to hear you have more coming. Keen to see some videos of you using the gear.

It's pretty crazy how we have almost the same setup.. I have the same 28 and 50.. the 50 summilux I sold years ago, replaced it with a 50 f/1 noctilux. But, the 50 summilux was the better lens for most cases, more compact and easier to use with its shorter focus throw. I sold all my Leica gear at some point, but now have most of it back. M10, 50 summilux and a (also my second) 28mm elmarit. I've supplemented the kit with a voigtlander 21mm f/4 and a 35mm f/2.5. Both tiny lenses that I can always bring along should I want to. I'm debating whether to change the 28 and 35 for either a 28 summicron or a 35mm summilux. But to be honest, that's more GAS than anything.

@Renzsu
@Renzsu 3 ай бұрын
@@andriykovach2736 It would, if you feel the need for a portrait lens.. I'm so used to the wider focal lengths that anything longer than 50mm feels like a cropped photo to me (and I find 50mm perfectly suitable for portraits). It's purely subjective, I fully realize this. Then again, I do like photos like from Saul Leiter, made with a 90mm iirc? But it would spend most of its life in a drawer for me.

Very nice the video directly answers a question that I have not really asked myself. Do I keep the Ultron or upgrade to the summilux. From the looks of it, it's not that far off optically for the price. However, the focus ring on the ultron is the most uncomfortable I've ever had in my hands. Maybe I'll buy a 7artisans focus tab and glue it on with a second glue. The thing is really not worth much anymore. :D The video has really helped!
@Goughie

Optically the Leica is better! But it’s whether the difference is enough! It’s definitely not required! The older voigtlanders from a few years ago aren’t worth anything anymore are they! I’m struggling to sell my 50mm Nokton atm! Ahahah! Id love to see the 7Artisans tab attached 😂😂

Can't help it, but the nokton (especially the newer version) produces nicer images than the lux. More character. That's why I got the Summicron 50 v5 in the end and still kept the 50 nokton 1.5 v2 if speed is needed. Usually it's not needed.

Goughie, it’s difficult to compare the lenses on screen especially in colour. Unless comparing lenses in terms of prints. I do notice that those B&W images you’ve shown made with the Summilux seem to have increased tonality and a beautiful not over done contrast. There seems to be an indescribable character in addition to this with the Summilux images. The redesigned version might work better with digital sensors

And if you felt bad, how did you got around it?

A pat on the back and off we go to 50k aye! 😂 maybe a Q&A! To answer your question I rarely ever do it! Unless it’s a place where it’s really public and expected like the market in this video. I personally try and sway on the side of trying to keep people anonymous, generally you shouldn’t be able to identify them. My best advice is don’t hide or disappear if someone sees you, acknowledge the situation otherwise it’ll come off a little weird

@@Goughie Owww I dont have any issues with that. See where I come from, though people have their own rights, I can photograph anyone on the PUBLIC street, as long as the photo itself is not presented in a "diminuishing" way to them. This means that I can shoot in public as my rights to do so do not inflict, in any way, a problem to the other person. In basic words, if you dont want to be photographed on the street, dont go to a public area. But here I have a trick up my sleeve... I photograph alot with old Rolleiflexes, which I dont need to take the camera to my eye to focus and shoot, and as such people dont realise it and everything turns out to be very natural. The few ones who realise that they are being photographed, they like soo much the experienced to be photographed by such a large and weird "object" that afterwards (when I send them the JPeG) they become somewhat of "loyalç" followers on facebook.

@@paulodefeyter same here! There no laws against taking photos of people in public, I choose not to have them identifiable Old cameras definitely help make to whole situation feel far more friendly and artistic

I had it in 2007, I sold it after 2 years of use, the focusing mechanism got on my nerves - too big for a regular 50 Lux anyway - it was optimised for near focus, hence the floating element, super sharp but super uncomfortable too.

hi goughie,i have a question can i get "leica pop" using voigtlander lens for leica on sony or any camera like canon,fujifilm and nikon😁😁
@Goughie
@Goughie Жыл бұрын
Can you actually describe the leica pop? Its such a funny one isn't it, I'm not sure I can. I do think that leica lenses combined with leica bodies have a little bit of a look to them? Yes in that I can tell them apart in my Lightroom library, but is it something I can describe I'm not sure. Probably a combination of sharpness, colour and depth of field. I've tried fujifilm cameras with Leica lenses and never really been able to get the same look. It could be in part due to the crop sensor. I don't have any first hand experience beyond that with other makes. My problem with Leica and Voigtlander lenses on mirrorless cameras is that the manual focus experience is a little disappointing and that would stop me buying one.
