Yes, these binoculars are fully waterproof and even submersible to a depth of 5 meters. The nitrogen filled interior ensures a completely moistureless environment. The warranty is 10 years with all Leica Noctivid binoculars.

Abbe-Koenig prisms carry a high price tag because they are difficult to manufacture.

Can I use a noctivid in a bright day even it is made for dark?

Yes, absolutely, you can use them during the day. Just be careful to not look directly into the sun.

I very much doubt, that the 8x42 Noctovids would outshine the 7x42 HD+ Ultravids. I own the Ultravids, and have looked through the Noctovids, and there's hardly any difference. They both have Schott glass optics, AquaDura coatings, and the best manufacture of the big three. The only real difference is the over all design of both binoculars.and price.

You're probable right. But that's how it should be. They are pretty close in terms of price.

I have both, both are excellent. Noctivids are now Leicas highest premium model with updated optical design. Higher light transmission, much better edge correction (less edge distortion) and slightly brighter than the 42mm Ultravid line. The focuser is much improved from the Ultravids. But the 742 UVHD+ is a special animal because of its lower magnification, which makes it have a more immersive view with a better DOF. And of course very bright because of a larger exit pupal than a 842. I might ad the Noctivids build quality is second to none. These are built to last and are gorgeous to hold and use, like fine jewelry.

@spinozasdreams actually the Swarovski‘s do not eat the Leica’s lunch. It’s a different high-end optic. Leica goes more for a very rich contrasty image with very saturated colors, it’s very addictive. Depending on which model the edge distortion is there because of the curvature of field which gives it a more immersive three dimensional image as opposed to the flat two dimensional field of the Swarovski EL line. Leica improved edge correction in the new Noctivids and Swarovski improved the flat field EL by adding some curvature to the new and updated NL line. Both are exceptionally beautiful images. The Swarovski‘s do have better chromatic aberration correction and a more neutral color palette. The Leica have a warmer richer (some say) image and do suffer slightly with CA on the edges but not on axis in most conditions. I have both and lean towards the Leica’s.
