Leica SL2 & SL2s firmware update 6.0.0 | my favorite features

A new firmware was released for the Leica SL2 and Leica SL2s and here are a few of the things I like the most about it.

Update can also be done using the Leica FOTOS ap. No need to copy update file to the SD card etc.

hello, you are one of the few (perhaps the only one) who has made a video on upgrading to version 6 of the leica SL2S. Hopefully Leica will continue in its process of optimizing this camera and not abandon it now that the Leica SL3 is out.

A little correction on the joystick. you can change the behaviour of the joystick as you prefer. Espessialy good if you use manual mode and back button focus. you can now have full AF fucksjonality assigned to the joystick in MF mode ( wich is required to use back button focus properly.

I found the joystick lock doesn't work when I choose Eye Detection which means the expectation I want to focus exactly to the eyes using eye detection with fixed exposure in A or S mode is impossible.

Ya never needed/tried that but that’d be a bummer indeed if you use those functions that way 🤦🏻

Don't forget to backup your current user profiles to your SD card before you update the firmware or it'll completely reset everything

Slightly off-topic but do you know if there’s a way to assign the favorites menu to a function button for direct access?

If you keep the Fn button pressed a few seconds it gives you the list. You can change each time you need to. Don’t really know another way sorry Cheers

Is AE defaulted to the joystick? or can the Fn buttons be used as well?

Yes, it is and no cannot be used on the FN buttons (at least not that I know of)
