Medium format isn't necessarily larger pixels though. All medium format camera's have smaller pixels than a 12MP full frame sensor. Not to mention the bigger the sensor, the longer you have to expose for the same depth of field, which matters a lot in landscape. Oh and then there's one huge thing most people don't know: Your pixel size determines your maximum DOF before diffraction kicks in. For a 20MP APSC, this can be about f/6. For a 12MP FF sensor, this can be about f/16. But for a 20-30MP FF sensor, it can go down to just f/12 or even f/8, meaning you don't really want to go beyond that. For medium format with 50MP, you technically have a worse diffraction limit than a 12MP FF sensor. So really, if you want sharp landscapes, 12MP FF camera's are technically the best for that. Sure they don't have the resolution, but the resolution you do get is going to be pixel sharp. Couple that with the ability to have a true diffraction-less image at f/16 and you've got some of the best characteristics for landscape.

These are very good photographs. Mr Roy Newton is being a tad too unfair here. On the other hand, We are still chasing the standards that Adams and Weston set decades ago using purely analogue gear. Says something about how much photography has really progressed, in its aesthetic and artistic terms, during the last 70 years.

Having a Monochrom would be a dream come true.

The M9 monochrome is kinda accessible nowadays and I like it’s look better than the look of the M246. Just make sure that the sensor was changed.

You don't need one, just shoot and convert.
@marcoantoniogarcia384 жыл бұрын
@@ADFCHRONICLES That also works, but the M monochromes do have their advantages over converted B&W and their disadvantages. Anyway I do love the results I get from the first monochrome.

The Q2 Monochrome i say dream camera. I live out here right next to the HOH Rainforest and it would be a perfect camera. But i know it is going to be very hard to find one isn't it.

too much about the camera...great shots, quite sure you would have pulled it off with any old thing.

It’s in the Leica channel, of course they would talk a lot about their cameras.

@@marcoantoniogarcia38 I find it unfair, the photographer is illustrating a great work flow, I understand that reference to the cameras is implicit but it's meritoriousness is limited, any Leica camera you pick up has very little in terms of specs nowadays, go on Leica Facebook feeds and see what photos people are taking with the exact same kit..and try not to throw up.
@marcoantoniogarcia384 жыл бұрын
@@ADFCHRONICLES Not true, the 50mm summicron APO M is one of the best lenses you can find nowadays and is also very compact. I’m not a huge fan of the M 246, but it’s an older camera and the newer version of it, the M10 monochrome has great specs and amazing image quality. People take bad photos with every camera, it’s not the fault of the M246 with a 50mm APO, you can certainly make great images with this kit as their showing.
@ADFCHRONICLES4 жыл бұрын
@@marcoantoniogarcia38 Good glass no doubt, but to say it is one of the best lenses is quite a statement.....where did you source this info? and illustrate exactly based on which parameters(apart from the price) this lens was classified as such?
@marcoantoniogarcia384 жыл бұрын
@@ADFCHRONICLES This Swedish site has published the MTF measurements of what they considered to be the 10 sharpest lenses in the world (in 2015), made by Hasselblad’s lab. The chart for the 50mm APO is the second one and you can see that it’s quite impressive, especially for such a compact lens; www.objektivtest.se/nyheter/tio-av-varldens-skarpaste-objektiv/
