OOOOO' Richard you are truly addicted. Gotta agree with you, Leicester is a good station for photography but can be very cold. I liked the video with some unusual angles I have not seen before. The freight can be iffy' like everywhere. You did very well. I was there today with two of my grand children and we also did Loughborough and Derby. I really liked Loughborough.

This is a very entertaining video you have put together Richard of you full day at Leicester station, and bye gum you was there early. But I did like the lonely bag waiting to be picked up and I bet you needed a few hot drinks to keep you warm. God you only just got 37604 which was a good catch, ps Richard I believe you was using a tripod ?. Mike.

Thanks Mike. None of the shots were using a tripod. It was either freehand or using the apparatus that the station lends me. The shot on the 47 approaching and leaving the station, I just sat the camera on the signal step (I always use this technique for zoom shots because even the slightest wobble is picked up). I know its out of bounds but if its just the camera there nobody is going to see it. The shot of the intermodal entering from the south near the end, I used the black support for the roof. I just tilted the camera towards the track. The HST and Meridian near the beginning I used the sign.. Its really thin so I balanced it on there and then held my finger on top so it wouldn't fall. I use fences, telephones, walls, bins.. sometimes I use my sandwich box turned vertical. Whatever works to get the shot. My camera has a very good anti wobble mechanism so freehand stuff looks great. And lastly, the only thing I cannot master is how to start zooming without tensing my muscle. It always creates this wobble effect just as it starts. If its too much wobble, I just edit the footage that its already zooming. If you saw the raw footage, it would look like most others.

I've not been to Leicester Station for a while. Can you still get onto the platform without a ticket, or do you need a ticket?

There are barriers on the main entrance and automatic ticket readers on the new footbridge. I got there by train so I am not sure if the barrier men will let you in or not. Worst case scenario buy a ticket to syston. A single is £3.
