I LOVE the outdoor decorations, I wouldn't change anything unless YOU don't like it...sometimes more is more!! Both of our children were amazing napers, twice a day naps till around 4 yrs old then went down to once a day all the way thru Kindergarten (the program was a full day with naptime after lunch) Once we began homeschooling, I adjusted their school day according to what each child needed. Merry Christmas God Bless

Their rooms were sparse with toys and everything was secured to the walls. Doing home daycare I really needed the break in the 10 hour day🤣😜🤣

When I quit napping, as the first kid, my mom gave me books to "read". I loved books. I'd lay I bed and look at the pictures and make up my own stories. As I got older I would read to myself, so she gave me a pencil to circle the words I didn't know and went over them with me after my nap. I eventually graduated to the Reader's Digest. I know those are lofty goals at this stage, however you can adapt them to your girls' stages. The idea was quite time for us and mom. It's important for kids to learn to entertain themselves, and moms to have some peace in the afternoon. You're doing a beautiful job.

My daughter stopped napping at 18 months, which was super hard. She always sleeps so well at night, which is why she’s good to go all day long. She’s 11 now and still never naps unless she’s super sick. Be grateful for the nap days, because life definitely gets rougher when those are gone. ❤
@Amy-oc2uiАй бұрын
I just love how happy your girl's sweet faces are. My kids all stopped napping at different ages. My oldest napped until kindergarten and my youngest refused to nap after 18 months old. It's so hard to know. Each kid is so different. I cried when my daughter stopped napping at 18 months haha. I was tired and wanted that couple of hours. Once I came to terms it was fine, I just was bummed my kid free productivity time was gone. Eventually I figured it out, it was just a transition I wasn't expecting so early.

She’s starting to meet those milestones that Neurotypical kids are meeting. About three is when my son’s started boycotting their naps too! First it was that morning nap so we altered their schedule just a little bit so that we could try and get a longer afternoon nap in. That also only lasted for a little while before even afternoon naps were off the books.
@leighannsaysАй бұрын
yeah that’s what my mom is saying too. She’s been a one nap girl for a long time but she needs them. I think she has to work a lot harder than other kids physically to just be awake and playing (not counting all her therapy) so she needs those long naps. Truthfully I think something is going on with her but I’m hopeful it’s just standard 3 year old stuff 💙
@meremorris2013Ай бұрын
@ that’s probably 100% true. Our pediatrician recommended Neuro swamps I think she called them. My seven-year-old still has trouble winding down at the end of the night so we try and do something short that is mentally and physically demanding on him so he will start shutting his own brain down when we’re done. For us it’s a dance party or he will act out the book that we’re reading. Obviously would be tailored a little bit different for Lucy, but I’m sure you’ll get it mama! You are absolutely amazing with her and for her and you always figure it out! She is just so smart and has so much going on in her brain she cannot quiet it down to go to sleep!

My daughter dropped her nap right around her 3rd birthday. First it started with her fighting the nap, then it started affecting her bed time. We had to make her bed time earlier when she dropped the nap for good. It’s been over a year and she still naps sometimes if we have a really busy day. I just have come to accept that most of the time, if she does nap, bed time is gonna be a struggle that night. It is what it is. 🤷🏻♀️

My toddler is the same age as Ms. Lucy and we went through the nap boycott a few months back. It was HARD to figure out, But honestly it's a lot easier in many ways because we can plan for it now. Her bedtime is much earlier w/o naps. Generally it's best to still offer the nap if possible. So we ask ours if she wants nap or quiet time. The holidays are hard for sure.

I have a friend who is a non verbal quadriplegic due to a brain stem stroke. He originally used the touch to type computer with a headstick, then the eyegaze. For the last three years at UCSF he been in a study that has allowed him to communicate using electrodes that are implanted in his brain and then connected to a computer. He is able to think what he wants say and the computer speaks for him. His native language is Spanish, he's doing the trial in English, and now learning French. The technology is adavancing quickly with several groups doing trial studies - but the goal will be the electrodes will be permanently implanted in the brain with Bluetooth communication to the computer that does the speaking. Lucy's future in communicating will be amazing.
