2 things: 1. I use decorative boxes like the ones from Michael's under my tree to help hide the base and make it look more festive both before and after the gifts are there. You can gte some of those to help hide the base. I lean them up against the base as well. 2. We have basic frames where we include a picture from every Christmas. They all match and they have the pictures of our son with Santa from 1-10. I love them!

I have a tree lifting solution! When I was a kid, we always bought live trees. And my father wanted the tree a little taller in our home for our higher ceilings. So he built a foot high square pedestal or platform base for the tree, and we draped the tree skirt over it, and it looked like a Barbie tree skirt that draped over the pedestal! We did it for YEARS, and with the lifted tree, we were able to fit more presents under it haha!! Good luck!

For next year, if you want to use the extender to lift the tree, wrap some boxes in coordinating/ sparkly paper to fill the space below the branches. Since you won't be unwrapping the boxes, you can get fancy paper that will be part of the decorations. If you get boxes with separate lids, you can wrap the top and bottom in different papers if you like AND the lids are removeable for after Christmas storage. 🎁🎄🎁

For my daughter’s crib I did storage in the bottom too and I ended up just doing a ruffle skirt with a print that went with the decor and it was beyond perfect! And for the bottom of my tree I did a tree collar and then I added a really pretty thick white quilt with scalloping on top that added dimension and I’m thinking of adding a train to go around the tree, it makes it so much grander

I’ve got our tree up and lit because the lights on during the early dark days of the season are just so pretty. But I think I’m incapable of decorating before December 1. Our house is small and the decor just feels like clutter very quickly. I’m enjoying watching you do all your decorating and seeing some old favourites🥰🎄🥰. And Robin’s first Christmas…so special. Tree extender--- looks like the perfect spot for gifts to me! Or wrap some lights down the pole? Tree collar? Or take the extender off and find a sturdy box/platform you can set it on top of with a cute cloth to cover the platform? Make and wrap some faux present boxes as decor under the middle of the tree with real gifts in front later?

I know you are already decorated now, but next year if you want to raise the tree up you can put the base on cinderblocks. You can use zipties to keep it locked in place on top! Everything looks great. Your video gave me the motivation to get my act together and get decorated.

Leighann, just get a couple of those crates from Michael's. Sit the tree on the crates, it will raise it up and go with your traditional, vintage Christmas theme. You could take a nice throw blanket in red and drape it over the crates also.

Next year you should consider getting a tree spinner. It is essentially a base to the tree and slowly spins your tree. I have had one for like 5 years. The best investment then you get to enjoy all the ornaments.

I put my tree on top of a Costco black and yellow storage tote, then wrapped a red table cloth around it and then put my tree skirt on. My mom used bed risers under hers. It gave a bit more height and she could still use her tree skirt like normal
