This exactly explains how i use styles these days…. I am going to post a link on the Korg Forums, as to many people their just don’t seem to understand how the workflow on a Pa5x is entirely different from the Yamaha Genos…(both are incredible keys)

Leigh, thanks for the succinct explanation of this strategy -- great suggestion to have an option to bring up the volumes like a fade in --- wouldn't be too dfficult for Yamaha to implement.

Love all your videos Leigh showing some great packs. Problem is if I load any into Genos then would I lose all the others already installed? Any help would be appreciated. I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Hi Bernard. If you didn’t buy them in the first place - then yes. You would have to reload the entire set. It only applies to packs that you have that are not free. All the Yamaha packs are now free and you can download them easily.

Hi Leigh, Another great video. Really enjoy the way you explain everything you are doing. I found it so frustrating that on the Yamaha web site it said take all the set up’s/ registrations from your Tyros, (Tyros 4) put them in Genos and away you go. No Mr. Yamaha, nothing worked as it should. I spent 12 hours a day for three weeks trying to get it gigable. I notice you are still using the default split position. That was my first major job, pushing the split position an octave lower to give me an octave more of playable notes. I love the Genos and like you have found many stunning features when you delve at little deeper, but I haven’t got time to do the videos to share my experience. Keep up the good work buddy.

I may be talking tosh , but might there be a way to assign the fade in/out function to the voice you want to introduce? I'm not smart enough to work it out but you certainly would be if it was possible.

Leigh, you seem to use your hands/fingers to change the registration and other buttons. I never see you using the assignable button and a foot switch, leaving your fingers and hands free.

I never use a footswitch to change a registration Graham, always my hands, the only pedal control I have is a sustain pedal which I use for Piano. I don't like pedals to change registrations, much prefer manual - that way I know it's pressed and nothing can go wrong. Hello to Shrewsbury from Staffordshire!

@Leigh Wilbraham Yes Leigh. My wife bought it for my 65 birthday 2019. I had packed up playing since 1990, having been in a band for 22 years. Great days. I had a Farfiza VIP 233 (I think it was). Would have loved a Hamond but too heavy to lug about. Love your idea when a new instrument is brought in and increasing the volume. Makes the transition smoother. It was great talking to you. Didn't realise you were from Staffordshire.
