What a fantastic demonstration and review of Genos 2. Your analogy of the 'same walk with different scenery' is superb! I've only played Genos 1 a couple of times, but from what I've heard so far, Genos 2 is a huge improvement in every area. Enjoy your new baby and here's to many more videos to come! 🤗🎹🎶🎵

WOW! So super happy for you that you have received your all new Yamaha Genos 2 ... I'll be as exited as you are once I'll receive mine hopefully next week at some point. You made a very important point Leigh regarding "Subtle" but very useful changes and for me what I take from that is, Yamaha is listening to it's customers and musicians alike. See, let's face it, Genos was and still is a brilliant avenger work stated keyboard and Yamaha has simply improved on what was already almost perfect keyboard. This is a fantastic demonstration of this wonderful Yamaha Genos 2 and not such much other musicians go to that length to review in such details and above all passion for this beautiful Genos 2. I so love the design of the Genos 2 and it shows as it was designed by an Italian product design team and for Yamaha to give the go ahead it must have impressed big wigs! Thank you Leigh for such commitment and unwavering support to educate and show how this wonderful super professional Genos 2 works. The sound is absolutely brilliant and almost much more sharper and livelier from the Genos 1 ... Leigh, would you know if you came across any FreePlay Styles of the Genos 2? I very much hope they have them as well as thay are brilliant for composition

With the exception of a few cosmetic technical changes to the keyboard, all presentations of the new Genos 2 have so far mainly featured new voices and styles. I really wonder whether a new update with the new styles and voices for the Genos 1 wouldn't have been enough, which many users would have paid instead of paying 5000 EURO for a new Genos.

I recently watched your enthusiastic video showcasing the Genos 2 instrument. Currently, I own the PSR-S770, which I've had since its initial release. Being more of a hobbyist than a professional musician and, now at the age of 75 with a typical budget and a background in rock music, I find myself intrigued by the features you highlighted in your demo. Given my limited expertise compared to yours, I'm seeking advice on whether investing in this relatively expensive instrument is advisable for my situation. The price difference between the original Genos and the Genos 2 is quite substantial at the moment. Would you recommend that I start by trying the original Genos and then, if needed, consider upgrading to the Genos 2? Alternatively, do you believe it's a sound decision to directly go for the Genos 2? Additionally, I'm curious if styles from the Genos 2 can be loaded into the original Genos. Your insights and recommendations on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to sell this keyboard it is already sold. Martin played the YG2 for 40 minutes without saying a word his fingers said a million. This is an outstanding keyboard for the price. It is all the YG2 backup that adds to its heritage and value. Leigh, it's people like you and many others supporting the product that gives it real value and Yamaha free advertising.

You were a little upset yesterday with the comments on the live stream. I understand your frustration, and this comes out in this video. I've only gotten up to 16 minutes into the video and you've really hit the nail on the head. You have an original Genos. You've invested a lot of time and effort into getting that keyboard. You know it intimately. So, you ARE one of the few, independent resources that are out there that can judge what Yamaha has done. Are you a 'Fan Boy?' Most certainly, but there's nothing wrong with that. You can compare 2 to the original, and you can say 'Oh yes, this really does sound a lot better, that they've given this sound this, that and the other thing.' For someone like me, and maybe a lot of other people, we aren't going to be able to see the differences. As I said yesterday, my ancient Korg PA800 is 17 years old. No matter WHAT I listen to today, Yamaha, Korg, or even Ketron, the sound is going to be better, the styles are going to be better, and the technology is going to be better. No matter what I buy, it's going to be a huge step up from where I'm at now. Having said that, I'll withhold my opinion because YOU are the person with the best opportunity to evaluate Gen 1 versus Gen 2 of this keyboard. Having said all of that, it's obvious that, at least 16 minutes into the video, you're happy with the sounds. I, on the other hand, would probably be happy with the Gen 1 Genos, if I was going to go with Yamaha. 😋😛

Hello from Canada. Thank you very much for the video. As someone with low vision and in need of accessibility features I'm wondering does the new Genos have a better voice guide this time? Genos 1 didn't have it built in so I'm really hoping this one has it built in and can read everything you do. Thank you again love your videos they have helped me a lot with Genos 1, and now maybe worth Genos 2.

WOW! Overnight to get one? That's pretty amazing. Looking forward to your review of it. At 30 minutes, the Dynamic Control, if I understood what I was hearing yesterday, seems to be, in a word, more Dynamics. So, volume is one thing, but more like a variation in the velocity of the key hits. At about 57 minutes into the video, I noticed two things. On the Korg, and this dates all the way back to my PA800, the 'STS' or 'Single Touch Settings', comparable to the OTS on the Yamaha has the names of them displayed on the screen on the Home screen. So, for instance, I have a 'Jazz -4-tett' style pulled up, and I know that my number 1 STS is going to be a Grand Piano sound. Now, I won't know exactly what the four parts, Upper 1-3 and Lower will be until I press the button and they are displayed on the screen, but I know that it's going to be a Grand Piano at the least. STS 2 is Jazz Guitars, STS 3 is Drawbars, and STS 4 is a Tenor Sax. I can create my own settings and then rename the STS to what I want it to be. I'm not seeing that on the Genos. I don't have any idea what the OTS will be before I press one of them. Is it in there somewhere that you can see it from the Home Screen? Also at about the same time I noticed you were playing with Organ Sounds, and you didn't hold a sound for very long and switch the Rotary Emulation on or off. But, for the time you did, it seems to me that the Leslie emulation is unrealistically fast when either speeding up or slowing down. I wonder if the effect is adjustable? I know that I can make that adjustment on my very old PA800. I'm wondering if you can do it all on either Genos. One more thing. I'm looking forward to hearing your demos on the styles. I grew up listening to, and still primarily listen to The Great American Songbook and some Latin, i.e., Bossa Nova, RHumba and popular 'South of the Border' songs in the U.S. I wasn't one for the 80s and 90s, really, my musical tastes were well established before that music came along. So, when you're doing that particular video, I hope that you'll pay some attention to those genres of music. So far, I am enjoying your review and I agree that this keyboard is very good. At 1:10 into the video I understand the 'depth' of the sound. With a couple of 5" studio monitors on my desk I get a very nice sound that reminds me of a ballroom floor, and they aren't that far apart physically. But, there does seem to be depth to the sound. Also, I am loving the brass sounds, as well as the reeds. Before that, you were playing what, to me, sounded very 'Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass' trumpets and brass, and that was very good. I like those sounds. One more thing I want to point out, you talked about additional styles and stuff for 'other keyboards.' One of the nice things about Yamaha styles is the way they are made, and how easy it is to 'borrow' them. If I were to get a Korg PA5X, or even a PA4x on the used market, it is actually rather easy, just a few minutes worth of work, to convert a Yamaha style to work with a Korg keyboard. There is a video on KZbin by Qui Robinez on how easy it is to do. One thing I noticed, and I thought it had changed over the years, but maybe you can clarify. Back when Korg introduced the ORIGINAL i3 Interactive Arranger (years and years ago!), each style had several Chord Variations. I'm not talking about Variations 1-4, but actual variations depending on the chord style that you played. For example, if I played a C or C7 chord, I would get a specific pattern, but if I played a Cm, or Cm7, I would get a different pattern and if I played a Cdim, I would get yet another different pattern. In this video that Qui did, maybe he missed it, maybe they weren't there, but I'm not seeing any kind of chord variation for different types of chords. Anyway, as I said, I don't know enough about Genos G1 to compare it to G2. I like what I've heard so far and think Yamaha did a very good job with it. I look forward to your additional videos on it.

I modestly consider myself an advanced pianist, especially classical and also jazz. The latter gave me dexterity in using chords. For me, the SX900 is the optimal flexible arranger, easy to take with you and set up. With musescore xml files I create lead sheets that suit my vocal range. The harmoniser/vocoder is fantastic. There are now more than 1800 songs and instrumental pieces of sheet music in my iPad, which I have provided with the necessary styles and saved in the registrations and playlists. The Genos 2 looks good and has a few improvements angled screen nobs and sliders that light up when used but as we know most of the samples for instruments are the same as they have used for 20/30 years The real disappointing aspect of this new Genos 2 will be the price 4,999 just for the keyboard itself with packages including speakers and other things upto 5,600, I can see korgs Pa5x flying of the shelf.

@@LeighWilbraham well youve got to admit not many people will be able to afford between 4,999 and 5,600 for the genos 2 in this cost of living time korgs pa5x is now between 3,300 and 3,600 in most stores

It sounds like no Seamless Transition! The organ has not changed either, the Leslie is still a coffee grinder!!!! The cabinet is still a cheap plastic door with toy buttons!! An outrageous price of €5000 Shame on you Yamaha!!!!!

Mee, too, I can't understand where are the "wow" improvements from the G1. Come on, guys...6 years of research and technology for this result? This is, for me, the same transition from Tyros2 to Tyros3. But that case 3 years, here 6 years!!! The G2 sounds good and Leigh is a wonderful demonstrator. I just find the G2 a poor update of the G1 after 6 years. Still no Bosendorfer samples, choir and electric guitars (and related DSPs) are the same, same 3 GB of expansion, less onboard storage, no seamless transition, same style editor, a few new sounds added, and so on. Except for FM voices, all this could be a SW update for the G1.
