Hey Scott... I really appreciate your daily (or sometimes even hourly) updates on Big Island. Every evening and morning (Central European Summer Time (UTC+02)) I check for your videos. It's fascinating to see the changes over the past 21 days. Might it be possible to keep an eye (or a lens in your case ;) ) on Moku Street since there are still merely crevices. I wonder whether it might evolve the same way Lower Kahukai did. Best wishes fromt Germany ... to you and all viewers Mahalo Scott :)

Doing Hawaii said the copters we’re practicing evacuations yesterday. I saw where they have brought in the big ones for mass evacs. I’m guessing with the magma backtracking West, they are expecting more to have to leave? Scary stuff. He also talked about a community meeting to move the curfew time later, did you go? So glad Sirens is paying more, I don’t think he has a self-made video on his site. They all seem to belong to others. Take care, man and thank you for being our window. Keep aware.

Even with all of the devastation that it causes. It is one beautiful sight at what nature can do and how the earth is changing. And it is funny how the lava just keeps coming and coming. When will it stop and how much more will it produce?

Probably the volume of HaleMa'uma'u and Pu'u O'o combined. This flow is similar to the 1955 flow which lasted for 88 days around Kapoho. There are youtube videos of this as well with the high showering lava fountains and bulldozers in the fore ground trying to divert the lava. It didn't work. Probably more time since two craters emptied this time. I give it 5-6 months. -It didn't stop that soon 'tho for the Kaimu black sand beach. Filled in a whole small bay out to a quarter mile or so between '83 and '90.

Scott.. When you say "thank you for the donations and support", those viewing your videos on other channels may be making donations to those channels. Sirens is asking for "donations to support my channel". Viewers are unknowingly supporting him thinking it's you. Hardly anyone reads the video description unless they are directed to in the video. And very few read the comments section either. Cheers from Seattle!

HillaryS. K Only after sirens999sirens was caught. Sirens steals all his videos. If he gets caught he either removes the video or with adds who the owner is in the video description. Which hardly anyone reads. Sirens also is requesting people donate "to support the channel". People may veey well be donating thinking they are supporting Scott. This guy is making money on clicks, ad revenue, and taking donations. Depending on where he lives, he could be a very wealthy individual by simply stealing and reposting other KZbinrs videos. This, to me, is a fraud and a thief. For every view on the stolen videos, is one view less for the actual owner of the video. Additionally, in this case, donations meant for Scott, during this difficult time, are going to someone who, originally, was stealing them. The guy is a thief.

Thank you one more time 4 a great video update on the situation. Keep it up what you are doing. Maybe one little advise, when you move the camera to show something, you need to consider that everyone needs about 3 seconds to fully scan the picture with the eyes to capture details. Meaning if you point to something with the camera you should count to 5 before you move the camera again. Your speed of talking by the way is perfect, also clear and loud, ideal even for not native english speakers.

Darnit Scott, I know the title of this video mentions "at Luana and Lelani", but doggoneit, you didn't mention what street you were walking on at the beginning of the video. PLEASE mention (1) The street you are walking on, and (2) what direction you are walking. IE, IF you were walking on Luana, were you walking Malama or Kahukai at your back?? It really helps to know this data at the beginning of the video because I have a map, and I like to follow along. Please don't make me guess Scott!!!

Based on the fact that it apears the lava takes 4 seconds to fall from the peak of the fountain, id estimate the hight of that fountain to be over 250 feet or about 80 meters

Ben Schofield Is there a constant of lava falling. Wouldn't the velocity of the rate at which the lava falls based on it's exit velocity from the fissures?
@benschofield1361
@benschofield1361 6 жыл бұрын
Freeman Tills well honestly not positive but there is a formula to make it more precise. One variable I didnt take into account is the shape of the lava as it falls which would increase/decrease the drag and affect the answer but I assumed the lava took the same amount lf time to go up as it takes to go down and a 4 second freefall from a hight is about 250 feet.
@LardGreystoke

Once it reaches its peak it's purely the acceleration caused by gravity.
@benschofield1361
@benschofield1361 6 жыл бұрын
LardGreystoke it would depend on the shape though too, if its rain drop shape I think that's has the lowest drag coefficient, unlike if it fell like a flat sheet of paper but I'm sure thats negligible.
