Leipzig Market Square Walking Tour Fall 2023

This is a walking tour video of my walking tour on an early Fall season in Leipzig from Augustusplatz to Market Square.
The Markt is a square of about 1 ha (2.5 acres) in Leipzig's district of Mitte (neighborhood Zentrum), Germany. It is considered the center of the city. The Old Town Hall stands on it, which demonstrates its particular historical importance. The square was named Platz des Friedens (lit.: Peace Square) from 1950 to 1954. Its paving is a listed heritage monument.
Leipzig is the most populous city in the German state of Saxony, the second most populous city in the area of the former East Germany after (East) Berlin, and Germany's eighth most populous. Leipzig/Halle Airport is situated in Schkeuditz, between Leipzig and Halle (Saale). The name of the city and those of many of its districts are of Slavic origin.
Leipzig is located about 160 km (100 mi) southwest of Berlin, in the southernmost part of the North German Plain (the Leipzig Bay), at the confluence of the White Elster and its tributaries Pleiße and Parthe, that form an extensive inland delta in the city known as "Leipziger Gewässerknoten" (de), along which Leipzig Riverside Forest, Europe's largest intra-city riparian forest has developed. Leipzig is at the centre of Neuseenland (new lake district), consisting of several artificial lakes created from former lignite open-pit mines.
