This video demonstrates the LEISHMAN STAINING technique; a most commonly used BLOOD SMEAR STAINING TECHNIQUE for Microscopic Examination. This protocol is also a DIFFERENTIAL STAINING METHOD, which variably stains & differentiates various cells of the blood as well as to identify the microorganisms like bacteria & protozoa present in the blood.

Generally after the preparation of blood smear, we are not fixing the smear. The Leishman's stain contain methanol. So initially the fixation is obtained by the application of the undiluted leishman's stain (1 min) followed by the addition of the diluent (DW) to stain the cells for 10 mins.
