Surabhi Yadav is a woman on a mission: to document Women at Leisure. In this captivating talk, she explains why leisure is not a luxury, but a necessity for women's well-being and empowerment. She argues that leisure is a measure of how free a society is, and how the unequal distribution of time affects women's choices and opportunities. She challenges us to rethink how we value women's time and how we can create more space for them to relax, explore, and express themselves. She urges women to break free from the game of permissions and embrace leisure as a portal to their inner power, rather than a way to fight patriarchy. Surabhi Yadav is a powerhouse of ideas and new feminist thinking focused on gender and rural development. Surabhi's goal is to shift the narrative about rural women from their pain and problems to their potential and the possibilities. Her groundbreaking initiatives have garnered global acclaim, revolutionizing conversations of leisure in academic, leadership and general settings. She is the creator of Project Basanti: Women at Leisure, an unique initiative that transforms the way we think about leisure and its role in the empowerment of women. She is also the founder and CEO of Sajhe Sapne, a nonprofit that empowers women from low-income communities to become coders, project associates, and math teachers. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
