Leisurely wander around West Stockwith and Misterton, Nottinghamshire

I debated whether or not to post this which I made on holiday about 3 weeks ago. Perhaps not high on the entertainment scale but part of vlogging is for my own enjoyment, making a diary of some of where I’ve been, how I’ve felt, and what I’ve seen. If you enjoy it too, that’s great.
Starting point was The Waterfront Inn at West Stockwith. There are a number of walks along the River Trent, River Idle, and Chesterfield Canal. Never too far from a shop or pub, but feel out in the middle of nowhere at the same time.

I often cycle to my old stomping ground, about 90 minutes each way, and wander around looking at all of the changes made since my childhood. Happy memories abound 🙂 Your old playground looks to have been a nice place to grow up. Thanks Deb 👍

Yeah, very fortunate to have had a bunch of my adolescent years there. Definitely didn’t appreciate it enough at the time, but I guess that’s youth for you, ha! With my current job role, I’ve started going back to the town I spent my first 16 years in. It’s really strange. So familiar, but doesn’t quite feel like home anymore. It’s definitely nice to try and find new angles to look at it all from though. ☺️

@@deblordoutdoors5783 yes, I fully concur with you on that, I appreciate my childhood and adolescence much more now than at the time. A lot of my 'adventure areas' have now been lost to industrial estates and other modern buildings which feels and looks sad, albeit an economical necessity. Happy daze 🙂

I gotta say I know my back yard like my hand deb. I covet knowing where I live. Good to see you exploring your own local area again - love them canals but can do without dogs rolling eh? Well, a decent time spent. All the best. Mark

Lots of quiet roads to cycle along; just don't cycle along the canal too far North past Misterton as the path disappears and you could possibly fall into the canal like i did. :-(

Eek! Good advice! I was under the impression it could be walked from Retford through to Stockwith. So that’s clearly not the case then?!

@deblordoutdoors5783 idk about to Retford, probably better walked. I've ridden up to Gringley and it was pretty overgrown in July. Walking is probably better.
