I wish this was available a couple of years ago. I'm not a drummer, but I picked up a Donner electronic kit so that I could attempt to add simple drum tracks to songs. It takes up a lot of room and is permanently set up. This is the sort of thing that I could pack up between uses and pull out as needed.

Hi I just received mine today and set it up. Can you tell me how to get a cross-stick sound from the snare rim? It seems changing the snare to a side stick changes the snare head to be the same. This is kind of a deal breaker if you can’t get a separate cross-stick sound on the snare.

Great review! You made me buy it! I would love to get your settings for the first kit you played from the get-go. I have been fooling around with my Lekato CPD-1000 trying to dial in my own user kits. Maybe I am missing something but most of the "snare voices" available are NOT to my liking. Face reality, once we dial in on a few kits (for me, that is one with a high snare, normal snare, and low snare), we simply play those. The same for my Roland kit. I play only 4 kits! Birch High and Low (again, with the specific snare) and Maple the same way! I am happy with that because the Toms and Bass Drum are then all studio "perfect". I don't change out cymbals when I gig, so I wouldn't do the same on my user kits. Would appreciate your help! Keep drumming!

Hi Justin. Could I ask you to verify if this drum kit works with any of the *beaterless* kick pedals you own? I have the Avatar PDL HH-191 (which you also reviewed) and unfortunately it does NOT work in ether of the two available kick drum inputs. There is no response at all when connected to the "Kick Drum" (kick pad) input, and when plugged into the "Kick Switch" input it generates series of rapid multiple triggers (almost like short bursts of discharges) each time the pedal is pressed. So it's pretty obvious that the Avatar pedal is not compatible with the kit. I'm still hoping that maybe another beaterless pedal will work with the "Kick Drum" input and - most importantly - provide some velocity response (not just plain triggering at the same level). From your videos it looks like you have a few of those beaterless pedals lying around, so I would be very grateful if you could test them with this kit and respond to this comment. Perhaps the Yamaha KU100 pedal will work correctly? Thanks so much for your help!

My Alesis mesh rack kit is beginning to be unresponsive with my vst drumkits (Modo Drums and Addictive Drums); the vsts only see the hats some of the time. Switching to this since I want to give up on the Alesis, would clear out a good bit of room in the separate hut behind our house, which is pretty small, but kind of cool, because the hybrid “garden shed crossed with an efficiency apartment” is such a ghetto-ey punk rock atmosphere, lol. It makes me feel extra predisposed to do trashy rock, just by being in there.

Any idea if the usb midi works with a longer usb cable, like 5 meter one?
