They are following the bass guitar since the two are strongly linked and they match each other the vast majority of the time. That's how they know how to play along with the entire song. Since the bass cuts out, they assume they aren't supposed to play anything. Obviously they don't always match since a song can lead in/lead out with the bass and no drums and vice versa. That's why they always struggle matching the intro and outro during these "hears for the first time" videos, since that is the one time that the drums can't follow the bass.

True but there was a time or era where all these bands where weird, hard, mean on purpose. Since we have became soft overtime and that cringe part of deep metal bands is past they can be more expressive and themselfs. For example like Slipknot

Spicing up famous songs by drummers should be a whole trend. It gives so much to songs, and drummers are undervalued by audiences. It's always the lead singer and maybe a guitarist who gets most of the recognition and the chicks. ❤😂

Oh my god his dancing 😂 I love it so much, he obviously killed it, I need more heavy metal Imagine Dragons lol watching the pure joy and excitement in every single drummers face when they get to do whatever they want makes me so indescribably happy, old or young, pop or metal, every single drummer has such a uniquely raw energy. I mean he broke the crash just jamming 😂 This is why drummers in particular will always have a very special place in my heart, i always air drum along to music so this channel just brings out my inner thrasher lol

Never heard a full Imagine song before. But this man immediately made the song way more interesting and dynamic. GG. Even just him saying he didn’t get a “band” vibe but more of a genre vibe…says everything. He kept it tasteful and within means. Well done, sir. I need to listen to more LoG.

Lol ...... yeah the original drummer is just like, staying well out of the way of the other parts, but then the other parts aren't very expansive either. Very spare song. This series ALWAYS results in the drum part becoming larger than in the original song. And for this song in particular the original song seemed to need it. Then again imagine dragons is a wierd band and that's what their fans like about it so, no worries

Totally amazing how the drums can totally change the vibe of a song. I love what Art brought to the table! And then seeing Art’s reaction to hearing what the original drum track sounds like is cool. Drumeo needs to get more of the original artists to react to seeing other drummers play their songs!
