Wow! Thanks, KF. You just helped me decide on the Bianca after starting this machine research from the Gaggia Classic.

Great small comparison, I love the MaraX, I’m a Gaggia user myself but maybe someday I’ll think about changing to a E61 machine, possibly flow controlled.

Great video. Nice wit too :). I started my espresso journey during 1st lockdown with an appliance Breville BBE. now have a Eureka specialita Mignon. Thinking of 2nd hand E61 or new Lelit Mara soon. It’s a rabbit hole …

Im still wondering how big is the quality difference in extracting an espresso? I'm fairly happy with the steaming capabilities of the MaraX. Is it actually worth the upgrade if you're mainly drinking cappuccino? There's also a flow control kit for MaraX. Considering these options, is the step to Bianca worth it?
@KFChan Жыл бұрын
If you are satisfied with the steaming capability of MaraX and only make a few cups at a time, not necessary to upgrade. To add a flow-control kit, only if you really like to experiment with pressure and such. I find the MaraX is already pulling great shots. I would say, if I already have a MaraX, the only reasons to upgrade is that Money is no issue and I need to make more than 20 cups per session. I have used Bianca to do very big parties. Bianca handles without breaking a sweat. If only making a few cups, I rather save the money for something else.

@@KFChan Thanks for your input. I've been considering Lelit Bianca for awhile now but there's nothing wrong with my current machine. I was thinking it would be a much bigger step up a little disappointing but maybe this price point starts greatly diminishing returns.

Thanks KF for the great comparison. I’m currently a Breville Dual Boiler user… I’m interested getting into HX machines. Do you think Mara X would be a worthwhile ‘upgrade’ in comparison to the BD or should I save up for the Bianca instead?
@KFChan2 жыл бұрын
If you are already using Breville Double Boiler, don't upgrade to MaraX. Go straight to Bianca. Anyone who is already using a double boiler will finds it hard to adjust to Hx machine, even a very good Hx like MaraX.

Hi bro, how fast is the startup time of bianca vs mara x? If I switch off the steam boiler will the bianca be faster?
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
Of course if you switch off the steam boiler it will be slightly faster. Probably 20 min. One of the main reason why both machine took long to heat up is because they need to properly heat up the chunk of metal that is the e61 Group Head. Under normal circumstances, expect 30 min from turning on to pulling shots.
@ptpt45833 жыл бұрын

Great review thanks. Ignoring the flow control, can the Mara x produce as good a shot as the Bianca? I know flow control would give you more scope to perfect. Is the only real difference aside from that the temperature stability of the Bianca? Would the Rotary pump help produce better extractions?
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
I would say, ignoring the flow control, MaraX produced as good a shot as Bianca. Of course, the temperature control in Bianca is much more reliable. Therefore, if you like to experiment with different coffee, different roast profile, the advantage of Bianca will increase even more.

One can add the flow control to Mara X (eg 150Euro from coffee sensor) and have basically the same functionality (minus 2 boilers ofc).
@mariuso48792 жыл бұрын
And by doing so, potentially( as stated by others ) reduce the life of the vibration pump in MaraX which is not made with that scope in mind.

For 50 cups a day, go for the Lelit Bianca. And don't say no budget. If 50 cups a day, if gross profit is RM4 a cup, 2 months ROI already.

Is Mara X ok for 10-20cups/day? Thinking about it for our small homewares store but would be low volume. Thanks for your help!
@eskerinola58453 жыл бұрын
Hi KF Chan. According to the specs, this MaraX comes with two baskets -->A. 1 dose (9-11g) coffee filter + B. 2 doses PLUS (18-21g) coffee filter. I make my shots according to the Italian Institute of coffee stds.: 1 shot = 7 g or 2 shots 14 g. I wonder if you can make them so with the supplied baskets or I should buy additional ones. Thank you!!
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
Of course you can use the existing basket to make Italian Institute Coffee Std. Just need to grind them a bit finer. But frankly, the world has moved on to better coffee extraction value. Italian standard on espresso extraction is seriously lacking in quality.
@eskerinola58453 жыл бұрын
@@KFChan Thank you. As I understand it, Italian std is just 7g/25mL/88°C/9bar/25 sec. Why do you say this is related to espresso quality?
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
@@eskerinola5845 Big difference in terms of taste and extraction. Most 3rd wave cafe nowadays uses 8-10g/15ml, very big difference in extraction.

I am a home Barista, do you recommend to upgrade to Bianca or Mara X ? for someone who serve two to three shots per day. What about learning curve for both machine?
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
Both is easy to use but when comparing both, it's not really about how many cups you make a day. Rather, it's whether you have the budget for it and whether you are fussy over coffee and expect to brew coffee that can exceed cafe quality. If you want to have the potential to exceed quality from most cafe, then the Bianca is the way to go. If you are not very fussy, just a decent good cup of coffee will do, MaraX is more than sufficient.
@mohammedmesaoudi87073 жыл бұрын
@@KFChan Thank you for your reply, another question if you permit. What about the power economy, is there any huge difference in consumption for home?
@KFChan3 жыл бұрын
@@mohammedmesaoudi8707 Didn't actually calculate power consumption. Most don't care. Probably 50 cents a day. An oven or a fridge would consume more power.
