Aloha Pōʻakahi iā kākou! Todayʻs MANAʻo Monday relates to last weekʻs manaʻo but it is a little more figurative. The ʻōlelo noʻeau is, “Uwē ka lani, ola ka Honua.” (When the sky weeps, the earth lives.). The heavenʻs cries refer to the rain that blesses our earth and allows us to flourish. Often times in ʻōlelo Hawaii kaona or hidden meaning is in the form of poetic personification of elements in nature. Although the heavens donʻt cry as humans do, this poetry allows us as humans to understand ourselves and our connections to the natural elements around us. E ola, e ola, e ola ka honua! Live, live, may the earth thrive!
