The way code geass won 1st place in terms of engagement is such an inspiring story. We were all hyped for death note when a couple of people started recommending code geass to be the next series after death note. Kenny and Montana never heard about it till it was recommended. Then it was put on a poll with recent anime giants My Hero Academia, Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. It came 4th place losing to all 3 of them. It continued to come 4th but fans were very vocal about it in the comments. We were so vocal that Kenny finally gave code geass a shot. So it was decided to upload the 1st episode of mha, jjk, csm and cg. Code Geass was the underdog. Many thought it would get destroyed and wouldn't stand a chance because it was old and new anime fans probably hadn't watched it. It was uploaded last. Mha was 3 weeks ahead, csm 2 weeks ahead and jjk a week ahead. Even before Code Geass was out people were already deciding who would win better my hero academia and chainsaw man. Nobody even considered the possibility of code geass winning but On May 12th when Code Geass 1st episode was launched on KZbin it blew all expectations. Fans were so passionate commenting, liking and sharing the video. It received an engagement and support no other series did. In one week Code Geass had surpassed the amount of views, comments, shares and subscribers gained which mha, csm and jjk did did for more than 3 weeks. It was truly the cry and dedication of a passionate fanbase. This historic moment will never be forgotten. We will all visit this video from tike to time to remember this glorious day, this miles we achieved together. Thank you my fellow Geass fans. Be proud.

This should be the series you pick up. Not only does it have a great story, a fan favorite ending, and twists and turns galore. It’s a great follow up to Death Note. Fun fact about the Chess game at the start. While Chess is often more about themes or character motivations at times, this game is an accurate game state. And Lelouch read it perfectly almost instantly. The move he started with is the correct move. The fact that his opponent laughed at him only proved his superiority in the game, arguably it's why he smiled. If his opponent didn't see that, he really couldn't stop Lelouch from winning. This further explains the statement later that he had set a new record. He was simply a much better Chess player.

This show is one of the few where I genuinely prefer the dub over the sub for the same reasons you listed. Really hope this is the one that gets chosen but I sadly doubt it will since the other options are a lot more mainstream.

Thanks, I recommend u to watch it , Read lol Things u should consider for better experience (NO SPOILERS) -art style u might or might not like first but u will get used to it -lot of fan service, just ignore it (like unnecessary) -always the characters revolves around the academy so don’t take it seriously or annoyingly (except that all story is logical and u can use your brain like death note) -Keep your expectations low and if u want u can compare death note and this as character vice but don’t do it as entire show vice as this show is big in scale -Everyone have their own reason and motives for what they doing so without fixing someone to a character, see it like a character growth as everyone will do good and evil (like AOT but because of that don’t bring your expectations high and this came way before AOT (in 2006 so if u see any similarities with this and other shows u watched they are inspired by code geass ) -And don’t blame everything on a character, think it logically and the situations and what u would do at that situation and is it smart decision -Some episode will go above and beyond what u want from a single episode ,so paying attention is so important than lot of animes (like characters have their own thing in background which don’t affect story and it is weird but they will cut to different scene for few seconds and cut it back which all will make sense so if u miss them while talking or something , I recommend going back to it ) -At the same time some episodes are straight up give nothing to story and u can literally find that immediately few minutes into the show as everything will me silly than serious so take those episodes as comic relief -all philosophy, word play will make some sort of sense like contrasting characters or something (so try to understand them , it is not like hard but if u remember them they will all connect to story some way or another) -opening and ending don’t give any spoilers , in my opinion u can watch them before and after every episode cause they create an atmosphere -I recommend to don’t see the episode names cause some are kinda spoilers as somethings would be crazy if u came to them without preparation

I don't see any reason to choose any of the other unfinished animes and forget what the shows were even about till the releases of the next episodes that may take years, when you have a full story, with a perfect ending. Code Geass should win this 😢

I watched Code Geass directly after Death Note and it was such a great decision! They complement each other very well as they tackle similar character and societal issues but take different approaches/genres. Definitely my #1 anime. Excited to hopefully see you watch this!!

Gonna comment so this show finally gets the recognition it deserves. While I watched all of these shows and they are great in their own ways. Code Geass is like the only one I have watched multiple times on my own. Please give this show a chance it is sooooo underrated! ❤
