​​@@zeehero7280I do think at first it was a grudge but it was always implied he was always a kind and hyper intelligent boy prior to the betrayal by his father. It was a hatred and rejection of Britannia that comply him to do what he does. After various interaction like those with his friends and also tragedies like his mistake with euphie, his goals slowly changed to wanting to do something for the world. Euphie, Nunally and his friend is always shown as his core treasure. At the end of the day he always wanted his friends and sister to live in a kinder world.

Considering it was right after he found out Suzaku (his best friend) was the nemesis on the battlefield piloting the Lancelot (which gave him a lot of troubles), he definetly went nuts there.
