It's my headcanon that whenever 'Zero' is talking, he's speaking in Japanese, while 'Lelouch' talks in English, which makes all the scenes where Zero is just talking to Kallen (like when his mask is off and he's in a warehouse) make a lot more sense. I sorta wish there was a version of the show edited with this concept, like using the sub for the parts where characters would be speaking Japanese, and the dub for everything else. Also yeah I'm sad they made Kallen a goon sometimes for the sake of dramatic tension or whatever.
