Everybody knew he was a living legend but people just kind of got used to him being there. I did too to a point, but I also realized that this is a living legend that won't be with us forever so I would often make it a point to go inside to the bar to order my beer right by the video game where he would sit and play and I'd always have a chat and some laughs with him before heading back out to the patio area. Listen to what Rudy Sarzo said about Randy. GW: What were Randy’s main influences? Sarzo: His influences were late-’60s, early-’70s English rock guitar players. He didn’t have any R&B influence or anything, so it’s totally English. And classical music because of his schooling. His mother had a lot to do with that, teaching him and influencing him with classical music. So by the time he got to England, he was not like a typical American guitar player who had had the influence of R&B music and country music, because he’d never played that. GW: Were there any particular players he admired? Sarzo: Yeah, let me tell you who they were. He really admired Gary Moore and Eddie Van Halen. Those were the top two guys he really, really admired.
@nedaCFilmsАй бұрын
@@EVH-s5h Randy was also quoted as saying the he thought George Lynch was the best guitarist to come out of the late-‘70s LA scene, between himself, Eddie Van Halen, Warren DeMartini, Jake E Lee, etc… That’s huge considering George had zero theory/schooling, was self taught and learned by ear. What’s really crazy about that is Warren actually helped George break down and figure out how to play Randy’s music after he passed, while George tried out for Ozzy lol, nuts but totally awesome. Keep in mind the only reason Ozzy chose Jake E Lee over George is because George had literally just chopped all his long hair off in favor of a shorter and bleached top “new wave” hairstyle, because George had not yet settled into his heavy metal path. Such a cool kind of full circle type story. #MrScary

Absolutely. In an interview someone asked Lemmy if Jimi put LSD in his headband to dose that way. Lemmy told them no, he put it in his mouth like everyone else did. Lemmy is such a great Storyteller as well. I could listen to him for hours. Read his book White Line Fever for a glimpse into the crazy life he lived. Btw, his 1st band after being a roadie for Hendrix was in a band called Hawkwind. The song "Motorhead" was originally recorded by Hawkwind. Enjoy 🤘☮️
