honestly i think i love this more than spirit phone. like, spirit phone is amazing in a lot of ways, and i love so much of it, but this is just... preferable, i guess? it might just be that i've listened to spirit phone so much that it ain't as good, but this just feels more worth listening to. idek, it's hard to put it into words. but to use as few words as possible, i'll say this. this album is wonderful.

This album is wonderful, and I have listened to it countless times. Though that last bit about listening to them over and again actually applies to all of his albums, this album in particular gives off something special. "The Only House That's Not On Fire Yet." It appeals to me so much. So happy, and yet so sad. So many deep metaphors. The more I listened, the more I found and the sadder the song became. Apprehension. Longing. Unrequited Love. Loss. Delusion. Personally? It's been six years since I met her, three since I lost her, two since I last saw her, but the pain is just as strong.

I always imagine lemon demon's albums (the ones ive heard) in a different setting. dinosaurchestra is in this chaotic land where its always summer, with explosions and bright colors and rollercoasters and the such. spirit phone takes place in outer space, but like a red swirly outer space. I could go on about other albums but im not going to. view monster on the other hand, always takes place in a void. I dont imagine a setting for any of the songs, they all take place in pitch black void. Im not sure what it is, I think it has something to do with the instruments and whatnot, but no images ever come with this album. its still my favorite ld album!!!

Knife fight is so good. It takes a really humorous approach that had me actually laughing at one point, and the dude at the very end saying "Ah that was fun....now where's my knife" was hilarious. And then it throws you into a completely different song in true Lemon Demon style.
@WhereAmIPleaseHelp4.02 жыл бұрын
I think that the final line may have been inspired by the live performance of Knife Fight that Neil did before the album released, where the other guy said that at the end of the performance after actually losing the plastic knife that had been used. I think Neil's last 3 albums (Dinosaurchestra, this one, and Spirit Phone) kinda line up with coming of age. Dinosaurchestra is innocent and happy-sounding, much like being a child. This one (View Monster) is more edgy and grittier, but still sounds childish, albeit in a more nostalgic way, much like a teenager; becoming an adult but still having an inner kid inside. Spirit Phone sounds hectic and bustling, almost nervous in a sense as the themes of late-stage capitalism reflect adulthood and all the anxieties that go with it. The red on all of them is obviously a metaphor for the rouge angles of satin.

Kevin Macleod Nightcore Remixes The end of Kaleidoskull causes me legitimate physical pain. Like a burning sensation all over my neck. And yet, I always listen to it because it's pretty.

Why doesn't the iTunes album have all these in-between clips? I remember the voices after Man in Stripes and Glasses being on the iTunes album though.

I’m open to the transitions, but I don’t like when they’re listed as separate songs keep them in the song, make them feel less clunky and maybe add a little extra lyrics here and there and they’re fine
