I, too, find basil unappealing, particularly in large quantities. There’s something about it that tastes like I’m having a hotdog. I don’t know what properties it has that create that flavor, but I find it vile. Cilantro is my default herb.

Hello I love your channel. My problem I can not eat onion/ garlic at all as well as meat ( thanks to Covid). Could you make a video where we do not have to use onion/ garlic? Or could you talk about how to cook without onion? I am literally living on steamed veggies and rice....
@aliceboyblue3 жыл бұрын
Could you explain this further? Do you have an allergy to onion garlic Meatwise are you a meat eater and trying a vegan dish.?
@horvathklara27083 жыл бұрын
@@aliceboyblue I was a meat eater. I had Covid and after that I developed an illnes called " parosmia". In my case I can not eat meat, eggs, onions and corn. On bad days I can not even drink coffe and plain water or eat mango or white bread. I literally throw up from the taste and smell. I can not explain but it has this weird smell. So now I became vegetarian....and this whole vegetarian world is new and I have to study eating again... there are 1000s of people who have similar problems thanks to Covid and most of us were meat eater.

@@horvathklara2708 This wave of virus stuff has been nothing but a major nuisance. Its terrible you went through and are going through that. 🙏🏿 Hopefully this info is of use for you. So as far as the now allium allergy you have, of course you know things like onions, garlic, shallots, scallions, leeks, chive are to be avoided. Which can be easily swapped with more bountiful aromatics like celery, tomatoes, celeriac, thyme, carrots, fennel, bell pepper. Horseradish and ginger could be used to imitate the heat of an onion. bottle gourd if accessible could work too. Then you have the spice asafetida, forewarning it is VERY pungent. You should sauté it when using it and be used in small quantities. Eggs can be easily avoided with many tasty alternatives. Tofu, follow your heart powdered eggs, just egg (which you’ll probably love if you havent tried it yet). White breads should be avoided anyway(my personal opinion) ☺️ Now corn as in the original form or corn byproducts, because they are in EVERY FREAKING THING!🤬 which i personally hate! If byproducts youll need to do label checks for this one. The ✌🏿“natural”✌🏿 state of corn can be easily avoided. Hopefully this helps you once again. The brighter side of this I suppose it allows you to experiment on a new food journey. The discovery of new foods, flavors, cooking methods etc. ❤️

Here in Texas, many types of chili peppers are available, and we grow them, too! We keep chipotle peppers, which are smoked jalapeños. Would that sub well for the Aleppo peppers?
@RainbowPlantLife3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anne, so nice you grow your own peppers! Smoked jalapenos would be a fun addition (if you grind them up), but they are quite spicy compared to Aleppo peppers, so go easy on that.
