Love the texture & subtle colours of the page. I’m not a big fan of paper dolls, but it did make it look like a completed spread once you added the sentiments too. I’d probably have been tempted to turn the grid texture into hints of a grey/brown cityscape, then add some splashes of colour with tiny plants breaking through. A yellow & green dandelion growing in a crack, some grass fronds, a bit of Ivy trying to take hold, a puddle of water etc.

Thank you so much for this! I'm just starting to venture into art journaling and have a brand new beautiful art journal that I'm hesitant to use to make "bad" art and ruin it as I try something I've never done before. I completely forgot I can use old books as an art journal. I bought a bunch from Goodwill a while back to use their covers for handmade journals. I'm so excited to realize I can use these $1 books and experiment and play, let go of perfectionism (hopefully) and give myself permission to make ugly art without fear of ruining an expensive art journal book with good quality paper. I personally love your adding the girl and quotes. I look forward to having some extra funds soon to spend in your shop! 🙋‍♀️💖

Dear Barbara, thank you for your comment! I also found that the materials which costs more are harder to use, especially papers or brushes :) Beleive in yourself, don't overthink the process too much, but if you feel more comfortable with starting with old books, do it! They are so cool to work with, they have plenty of charms, even though they take more preparation :) I am sure you are going to love it! Big hugs! 😘

I think it is a great choice to put the girl there with some sentiments. For me it would feel like an unfinished project without it. Nevertheless your abstract is very beautiful! Love this one again Asia.

I love the textures and little splash of colour showing off the depth and highlights.....I never like the sentiments or the girls/boys added....just the paste, tape, ink, paint and whatever other medium is applied and a little bit of random numbers or text stamps and or the book text peek a booing in places x i enjoy watching u create, even though we would choose a few different additives! lol x Alli X

One last piece of information for you that might help in figuring out where the problem is. I chose US dollars, but when checking out, it goes back to Euros, and maybe this is why it won’t accept my address? There doesn’t appear to be a way to go back to US dollars at checkout for me.

Why are you wasting a book?? Instead, you create this texture on any other blank book..

Why not? If the book is old, the pages are broken or torn? Why do you think is better that old books finish in the bin then be reused as art journal? I do not waste perfectly good books, i gave teh abondoned one the second life and I am happy with it! And no, I can't create the same texture in the blank one, if you watched the video closely, you would know why. Have a nice day!

@LemonCreationART if it is a torn or broken one.. then I have no issue.. I thought about an old, proper maintained book.. my mistake.. I just cared about a good book.. no issues.. keep your good work up.. my best wishes.. no hard feeling.. never mind, please.. it was only my concern about the lovely books, being a book lover.. I hope you understand.. ❤️
