I've been using SoundSource for a couple years now, and noticed recently that output volume levels were REALLY low. Tried checking all kinds of stuff... rebooting etc. Nothing worked. Then I googled the issue better and found this: If you are noticing issues with the speaker volume on your MacBook Pro, you may need to reset the NVRAM: Your Mac stores certain settings in a special memory area even if it is turned off. On Intel-based Macs, this is stored in memory known as NVRAM; on PowerPC-based Macs, this is stored in memory known as PRAM. How to reset NVRAM. Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. You can release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart. Fixed my issue instantly!
@LemonPodcasting4 жыл бұрын
Ahh the old resent the PRAM trick. I hadn't thought of that as necessary in 2020 but Macs can be strange beasts. I'm glad it fixed it for you. I'd exercise a bit of caution before doing something like this - make sure you have backups, etc. But thanks for the tip! -iChris

Chris Enns I’m not entirely sure. I would like to see it used within the context of a two-person studio podcast that can easily work with Farrago and perhaps Garage Band, Fission, and/or Audio Hijack. Essentially, how can I make LB work seamlessly with a DAW. How does it function? Can it simplify a two-person live studio podcast setup?

Yeah kind of? But you can't choose it as the input source in something like Ecamm Live or Logic Pro if you were hoping to send the audio all out somewhere or record it in one spot. But for what's going on in your headphones or speakers, it could definitely replace needing Loopback. -iChris

Hey Jawn Rocha! If I'm understanding you correctly, something you may want to look into is another app by Rogue Amoeba called Audio Hijack. Let's say I want to listen to a podcast (in Chrome) in an other language and would like to use Translate (the Google site in Chrome as well) to do the live translation (in text). Is there an app that could help me do that? Could I use Soundsource and chose the same app for In and Out and still be able to listen to the podcast? Thanks!

You could definitely do something like this with a combination of Loopback and Audio Hijack - you might need to use a different Chrome based browser to make it all work ok. Or play back your podcast in Safari or something else just so you can route the audio properly.

I have a question and I hope you answer my question .At this time, new Mac computers, such as iMac Pro, 2018 MacBook Pro and Mac Mini computers with the new T2 chip, route the audio differently that Macs have previously. Previous Mac computers used Mac Core Audio to control the audio. The newer Macs include the T2 chip which, among other things, is the audio controller. Many audio drivers, including the driver included in Wirecast, are based on the Mac Core Audio driver, which makes computer audio unable to be captured. How should I use SoundSource wirecast to capture audio from youtube, Facebook, ....?
@LemonPodcasting5 жыл бұрын
Hey Naser! I have a 2015 iMac (so it's non-T2 chip audio) as well as a 2018 MacBook Air (T2) and I've found all the software I'm using these days to be supported just fine on both. I can't speak to Wirecast as I don't use that but they should definitely have an update out to support the T2 based Macs. I know Screenflow, which is made by the same company as Wirecast, was updated to support it and routes audio properly. It uses a Telestream Sound Device as the input/output so I would assume Wirecast will eventually support that as well? If you're desperate, you can try picking up Loopback from Rogue Amoeba that should do it for you: rogueamoeba.com/loopback/

hi chris, great vid! Mainly I use this to eq my sound for different application. You can split channels and add your eq plugins (I-am using Waves q10m(mono) eq on 6 separate audio channels and apple lo and hi cut plugging. Iam using a Umik-1 to measure speakers in room. Then I make eq adjustments based on readings with (REW eq wizard) of each 5.1 speaker and sub. Look it up. Sound so clean right after I add lowcut off at 80hz to all my satellite polk speakers. Oh I also add 80hz hicut off to my LTE (sub Yamaha ns-sw200) all measured and tuned for my speakers in my room. Sounds so good. Invest in the umik-1 or else purchase the Dayton.
