I have just turned 91 today and it has gave this whole song an entire different meaning to me. It has been an interesting journey with alot of ups and downs. A funeral song is a somber song or lament that expresses mourning or grief, typically taking the form of a brief hymn. It is typically shorter and less meditative than elegies and bears the character of funeral marches. Poetic dirges may be dedicated to a specific individual or otherwise thematically refer to death. The English word dirge is derived from the Latin Dirige, Domine, Deus meus, in conspectu tuo viam meam ("Direct my way in your sight, O Lord my God"), the first words of the first antiphon (a short chant in Christian liturgy) in the Matins (a canonical hour before sunrise) of the Office for the Dead (a prayer cycle), based on Psalms 5:8 (5:9 in the Vulgate). Synonyms for funeral song include elegy, hymn, chant, coronach, cry, and jeremiad. The most requested song for a traditional funeral service is "Amazing Grace," a Christian folk hymn written by English poet John Newton.@@brotherhood7596

The most covered song in the world, with 1367 covers. Including « My Way », with more than 300 covers in itself. Let’s praise the talent of Mr. Revaux for this touching, blessed and beautiful song. That has made people laugh, love and cry, from the most intense joy to the deepest sorrow. All over the world, and in all languages. And which has helped so many to find « their way » God bless Jacques Revaux and Frank Sinatra ❤

As a long-time Boston Red Sox fan, I attended my first game in 1978, and whose ALL-TIME FAVORITE player is Carl Yastrzemski, this song AND it has to be Frankie's version of it, has truly a special meaning to me. When Yaz retired in 1983 after 23 seasons in a Red Sox uniform, and again, in 1989 when the Red Sox retired his #8, shortly after his Induction into The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, WSBK-TV produced a wonderful music video with highlights from Yaz's career to Old Blue Eyes version of My Way. With all due respect to NY Yankees fans, and fans of Hall of Fame shortstop, Derek Jeter, THIS SONG, and Sinatra's version of it, will ALWAYS be Yaz's song. Oh, and every time I hear it, I can see that music video in my head, and feel my eyes 🥲. ❤️❤️⚾️❤️❤️ #8! EMH Albany, NY

And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friends, I'll say it clear I'll state my case of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway But more, much more than this I did it my way Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption I planned each chartered course Each careful step along the byway But more, much more than this I did it my way Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew But through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out I faced it all and I stood tall And did it my way I've loved, laughed and cried I've had my fill, my share of losing And now, as tears subside I find it all so amusing To think I did all that And may I say, not in a shy way Oh no, no, not me I did it my way For what is a man, what has he got If not himself then he has not To say all the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels The record shows, I took the blows But I did it my way

Just a year ago on November 4th my husband got his angel wings. Happens that when I gave him permission earlier that evening, I wasn't thinking about it being my birthday as I was thinking about him and all he had been through. It's one thing to have some illness and then when dementia decides to climb on board the picture really changes. No regrets just missing him. I would be his caregiver all over again! It would have been our 45th anniversary in December. This song speaks volumes for exactly how he lived. He loved us, worked so hard for us, tried new and different things but for 50 years was a proud union electrician. He made magic happen more than once on some rough times. So that night I had my daughter in love call up this song and it's the last song I sang to him with a loving and grateful heart. Our love song was "Through The Years" and only Kenny Rogers for that one. Ole Blue Eyes... you closed out his remembrance service with style and class.

This song represents me. Sure I've made a couple mistakes, but I'm me and that doesnt matter. I'm not afraid to be different no matter what bullies, or even adults think. I do everythin my way, and I'm not afraid to. I did it my way.

My grandpa made several covers leading up to his death in 2018, one of those covers was this song. During his funeral we listened to his covers, and when this song came on it immediately stuck with me. It represents everything my grandpa was about, living life to the fullest and doing it your way. He was a very respected veterinarian and ran his own clinic. Even some of his regulars came to pay their respects. Then in 2020, my uncle, his son, died too. He followed in his dad's footsteps and ran the clinic after he died. Both their deaths were a huge blow to me and hearing this song reminds me of them so much. If you for some reason read through all of this, thank you. I just needed to get this all off my chest.

April 23, 2020 from Kolkata India. Have always loved this song, and today, when we are contemplating the fragility of life, it takes on new meaning- what are our values and how are we living- bravely, stand out of the crowd, or just living unmindfully, expediently...

We all must face the final curtain someday, Francis Albert did, but we'll never forget the man who was The Voice of the 20th Century and probably far beyond! He gave us over a half-century of wonderful music his way, to remember him by forever! Sleep warm, FAS!

The Voice of the 20th Century and probably far beyond??? Of course not he was of the greatest voices ,yes but there are others with the same quality voice like the great Tom Jones, Elvis yes but Engelbert Humperdinck was in complertely different league his characteristic velvet touch he did in every song not in just 1 song "My Way" - and he was a real gentleman as the word gentle man means not a son of a bitch mobster, criminal and spy...just a little search will enlight you and smart asses just remeber who wrote that masterpiece and sung that gorgeous song first with his outstanting voice, who else but the grand singer the unique voice of France Claude François with the "Comme d'habitude" is it wasn't for Claude there wouldn't be the inspiration from Sinatra or anyone else to make the "My Way"- Sinatra didn't wrote even the lyrics which Paul Anka wrote and even Anka couldn't rewrite the lyrics from French language in english if he didn't have heard Claude sing HIS SONG "Comme d'habitude"/"My Way" in Paris so the half or more credits must go to the legendary voice of France monsieur Claude François!!!
