Typical US commentators - for some reason almost every US fighter "had an off night" against Lewis. Why weren't they taking the fight to him? Why were they throwing away the opportunity? Foreman got it right with the Tua fight - it's because Lennox was out-boxing them and they couldn't get to him. Never got the credit he deserved - particularly in America.

Lewis never got the respect in boxing he deserved. A very tough, and skillfull boxer. He had a strong right hand that leveled most heavyweights. Tyson Fury wouldn't last against the Lion. Lennox is a true warrior. 👍

If Tony Tucker got in the ring and went the distance with Lennox Lewis then it's absolutely no excuses that Riddick Bowe can use for why he didn't defend the belt against the The Lion. Maybe it was the overhand right that dropped Tucker that had him shook, I SEE THAT NOW!!!!!😳🤣🤣🤣
@markhiggins83159 ай бұрын
Bowe had already lost credibility and thrown the world title belt in the bin to avoid Lewis some time before this fight so whatever happened here had nothing to do with Bowe's chickening out of a Lewis fight.
@J.Crooner9 ай бұрын
@@markhiggins8315 That's precisely my point. Riddick Bowe didn't fight either one of these guys vs Lennox who did the very opposite. Lennox fought everybody he was supposed to fight in his career just like Holyfield did and they never dodged anybody for any reason. As great as Riddick Bowe was he now looks like fake champion for what he did and his struggles with Andrew Golota outside of the nut shots he took solidifies just how sad his situation ended. My verdict on Lewis is that he always fought fighters that we're at least 4/5 or even 6yrs past there primes...There's a whole list, Let's just start from Bruno & bruno was actually winning that fight & this guy tucker & holyfied at least 10yrs later & then when he fought a noteble fight in klitko look what happened & he promised him a re match and didn't deliever & let's not forget tyson 12 yrs past his prime in around the year 2000, Tyson was a force to be recon with in mid 80s early 90s, But Lewis wasn't redy at that time...He only become a good boxer under stewart if there was no stewart there wouldn't been Lewis.
@BiggieBigLnPac5 ай бұрын
Lewis himself was passed his prime against a prime klitscko and still won. the vast majority of lewis's opponents where younger than him, Tyson was kod in 1990 age 23 by buster douglas, outboxed and knocked out!! The ONLY legend on Mikes record is Larry Holmes who was 18 years mikes senior, retired and hadn't won a bout in 3 years.
@AsifIqbal-kr7mk5 ай бұрын
@BiggieBigLnPac Ye right now you've started something...Lewis won the fight in own head vs klitko & the cut saved Lewis...Did you hear the crowd reaction...I guess you was watching a different fight to me & talking about Tyson at the time that he fought Douglas he was not ready mentally & physically, But the mental part plays a major factor...He at that time could have lost to Bruno a fight before Douglas & Bruno with all due respect to him had only power nothing else...& talking about holmes wasn't he the same guy he went the distance at the the tender age of 40/50s vs holyfied & actually beat mercer if I'm not wrong during that time, Any answers to that.
@AsifIqbal-kr7mk5 ай бұрын
@BiggieBigLnPac Style makes fights...Training regime in how discipline a fighter is & good trainer too, People perhaps sometimes neglect that factor, I think holyfied was good but the experience that he gained from old school trainers such as lou duva emanuel & the list goes on was essential to his resermough

I don't think you saw Klitchkos face after his fight with Lewis. It's Lewis who screwed him up and not the other way round. Lewis did him a big favor by not agreeing to a rematch under any circumstance. Lewis would have bashed in the other side of his face as well. It's the same with Frank Bruno. The public just wouldn't like it.

@@MiddleEast-4Ever oh really? You think it requires luck in order to bash in your opponent's face like that? I DON'T THINK SO. Do you think Lewis won that fight because he was lucky? I DON'T THINK SO. EITHER. The fight was stopped because Klitchkos corner men threw in the towel to save him from any further punishment. That in my opinion was the right thing to do. Those injuries on Klitchkos face are one of the worst injuries I have ever seen on a boxers face. There was too much blood streaming from his left eye. And finally, what was the point in having a rematch? What more did Lewis have to prove to the boxing world after that fight? Lewis quit while he was ahead, at his peak. He has made his money, left his mark in the sport, and he walked away peacefully and sensibly. He is the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time and a real gentleman.
