Just some advise as a Lennox dealer whose installs these communicating systems regularly ( installed 3 today) I would advise all techs to catch up on all field application notes as they change every 6 months or so. DO NOT BREAK “R” on thermostat communicating terminal with a float switch or ss2 drain switch. You will loose bout 2 volts on low volt side which will cause problems. You will need a relay. If low volt power to any component falls below 28 volts you will intermittent issues that are a pain in butt to diagnose Also if you pair non com hp with communicating ah do not hook “O” from outside directly to board on ah as this will cause pressure switch issues in defrost. There are many more. Always call Lennox tech support if unsure of wiring. Hopes this helps at least 1 or 2 techs from getting call backs.Stay safe.

Can the smart hub just sit on top of the air handler? That's where the tech "installed" it a month ago. I am now getting a critical message, the thermostat is not communicating with the smart hub. The thermostat is frozen with that critical message, I can only control my AC using the app. He said he had installed these before, but I heard him on the phone getting instructions from someone while he was up in the attic. The air handler is located in my attic, I live in South Florida, the book says the smart hub operating temperatures shouldn't exceed 104 degrees, my attic is at least 130 degrees. Company was due to come out yesterday, but not coming until Friday. After watching this video, he did not do the test mode after the new thermostat was installed. At night when I drop the temp for bed from 78 to 73 the unit runs for hours even though it says it's 73 and set at 73, I have to raise it to 74 to trip it off. I did turn off the "feels like" setting and raise the humidity level thinking that was the reason it wouldn't shut off when it got to temp. The company was told all this, but not concerned. I am wondering if it's all related? This is the 3rd thermostat in 9 years, but the 1st S30 model. Nothing but problems with this XC21 from day one over the years. 3 blower motors, at least 2 mother boards, 3 thermostats, the evaporator coil 2 months ago. The first 2 years they were out monthly for float switch issues and the vents were soaked and ruining my brand new ceilings, turned out to be the main duct was too small for this size unit. They have since admitted the unit is really too big for my 1200 SQ FT house, I was the 1st install of this new XC21 9 years ago.

They make this unit too complicated… too complicated to install, to calibrate, AND to use. Sucks

@@loric1278Most systems that don't operate correctly or fail prematurely are due to improper installation practices. Every new system needs to have a heat load calculation performed on the house to determine what size equipment will work best for your home. As far as the S30 thermostat is concerned it is hands down the best thermostat on the market for controlling the Lennox communicating equipment. Again, it has to be installed and commissioned by an experienced installer/technician who understands the system and how it is supposed to operate.

Remember the days when a thermostat was just a switch? Now we have to link them to the internet and our phones. In my opinion keep it simple, electronics equal headache and unreliability. Your stats have issues anyways with connectivity with smart hub. Don't stay connected or take forever to connect.

This is the worst thermostat imaginable. I bought a house with one installed and many require you use a Lennox control board as well. My screen went blank and I have to replace after a little over 5 years. Honestly, I think they set their equipment up to do this. I've looked all over the internet and there are hundreds of people who have had the same problem. Screen dies at around 5 1/2 years. Just a couple of months after product warranty expires. Anyway, the system is set up to not be interchangeable. After pricing a new Lennox with instal, It'd be cheaper to run two new thermostat wires and have a cheap AC and separate Cheap thermostat for my boiler.

I believe the warranty period has been changed to 10 years. Don't quote me on that one. (For the new S30's)

My S30 with the mag mount no longer wants to connect to WiFi. Even when my router is one foot away from the Smart Hub. Any ideas? My home WiFi is solid with all my 2.4GHz devices connecting without a problem....all except the Lennox S30. Very frustrating because it used to work. Just 2 1/2 years old and already broken.

The dealer has been unable to help and has run out of ideas. I have just sent an email with all of the Lennox equipment models and serial numbers and description of the problem to Lennox Consumer Affairs. This is the third Lennox equipment failure I have had in four years, so as you can imagine, I do not see Lennox products as being reliable. Let's see how well their customer support group performs.

I waited for Lennox to call this morning between 8 and 10am CST, but no one called. Leslie V. At Lennox Consumer Affairs said someone would call between those hours. There has been no technical support from Lennox so far.

I had a call from Dave J. at Lennox this afternoon. He was very professional and very helpful. He says my S30 has had a hardware failure and should be replaced under warranty. I will contact my dealer to get that done.

Same BS replies from Lennox and MOST companies nowadays. No integrity and no lack of responsibility for their products or service. Simple, I won’t be buying Lennox next install, I’ll go with competition.

Did Lennox redesign the mount for the s30 is it no longer the magnetic mount that if you accidentally bump it drops and cracks the screen

Make something NEW! This thermostat is 6+ years old now. 75% of your reps don’t know how to install / calibrate all of the advanced settings. And most consumers hate it. So MAKE SOMETHING NEW!

The S40 will be rolling out soon. I think I heard the warranty will be 10 years. Don't quote me on that one. Remember to run shielded thermostat wire guys for the low voltage dc connections. Low voltage dc can easily pick up interference from the ac power.
