INMHO he is the GOAT...I played and listened for 40 years no one even comes close

Ted Greene comes close in sheer ability and genius, however, Lenny's depth of musical expression with one guitar is today unmatched by anyone, i agree

I had the opportunity to play the guitar in this pic of Lenny! He had the biggest ♥️ #MikeJohnsonJazz

It's funny how a performer can be both vulnerable/intimate and terrifyingly virtuousic at the same time. He could do technical things on guitar that no one could do at the time, but it always served the music and expression.

I knew a guitarist who worshiped Lenny, and he taught me a riff with some descending harmonics. It sounded interesting but now I realise there's so much more. This video is the first time I've actually heard this extraordinary man.

I discovered Lenny just a few years ago. It was almost a religiuos experience. He plays in combinated style of jazz, bossa and classic feeling. He's one of a kind! From now on, he inspirate my own play, trying to find out hes technic, tunes, chords. A delicate mission!!! Thank's for Lenny! Lasse in Sweden with Gibson E-175.

What a great-sounding duo! Of course, I love Lenny, and these chord changes are "right-on"...BTW, the same ones I play. Sometimes, the average "fake-book" changes only sound vaguely familiar to the song just as long as you can hear the melody. Once the improvisation begins, it can be difficult to recognize what tune they're playing...not so here! Just a personal observation of my own - for what it's worth. I appreciate what Lenny did to elevate the art of sincere and honest guitar-playing...you can hear the love he had for music in every note he played. Thank you, Mr. Breau!

It's funny that Lenny is so underrated. His language sounds so modern today.

This is just two guys, right? Which means the bass player is one guy (virtuosic, by the way), and the soloist, and the accompanying guitarist, are both the other guy, the virtuosic Mr. Breau. Brilliant, and it's no wonder that Chet Atkins so fully appreciated Lenny Breau, and that Tommy Emmanuel was so inspired by both of them.

I heard Tommy tell that story, Chet introduced Tommy to Lenny and described him as a "comet just passing through" these guys are from another dimension. I'm 61 and just found Tommy Emmanuel 8 months ago and together with Jerry Reed, Chet, Lenny and a few others, they have shattered my world and none of my friends can relate. Horrified to learn Lenny was murdered! Wikipedia.

Yes, Lenny was born in Maine to Canadian-born parents- and it wasn't until after they had moved back in Canada ( New Brunswick first, then later Winnipeg) that Lenny started playing the guitar (aged 7). Within four or five years he was performing on stage with his parents. So we have a pretty strong claim on him too. ;--) One of the greatest talents to ever pick the strings of a guitar imho. (and the opinions of many others too, incl.Chet). Unfortunately Lenny's lifestyle caught up with him far too early and led to his tragic death. A terrible tragedy and waste. Dave Young one of the best jazz bassists to come from Canada (Winnipeg originally, but later Toronto where this was recorded). Randy Bachman, (also from the 'Peg) has been archiving and putting out a lot of previously unreleased recordings of L.B.
