Cindy Blackman was a beast. She said this was the first show where she played for a gigantic crowd and she said she was terrified at first but loosened up. Lenny of course crushed it. She stayed with Lenny for 18 years. She also married Carlos Santana and plays drums for Santana.

It was in the summer so most people had just t-shirts or tanks, a lot of guys had their shirts off, so you just see skin and hands and they're doing this wave thing. I almost lost it, my equilibrium was teetering. I wasn't used to seeing that many people; I was disoriented; I just had to stop looking and start focusing."

This was a really fun festival, but the only group who nailed the sound was the Black Crowes, who incidentally blew the entire electrical cicuits on the first chord. I took about an hour to fix, but it was well worth the wait. Lenny Kravitz´s sound was so broken and distorted, but hey, giant arena acoustics are not easy. Super cool to flash back to Pinkpop again.
