The main requirement to getting a star is, if you're pretty famous and alive, you have to attend your ceremony. Denzel could've had a star 30 years ago. But he apparently doesn't want one and/or doesn't want a ceremony. Julia Roberts (who has attended a Walk of Fame ceremony), Brad Pitt, George Clooney and many other big names don't have stars, either. It's not that they were denied. It's that they don't want to do the ceremony. They are not going to put a star without a ceremony and without the person participating. Matthew Perry was cleared to have a star 10 years before he died. He never scheduled a ceremony. Some people (Tom Cruise) get it early in their careers. Some decide they want one when they're old. Goldie Hawn was famous enough to get a star around the same time Chris Pratt was born. She didn't get her star until 1 month after Chris Pratt got his.

@@okocha7914 No, you don't. In nearly all cases, a studio or fan club pays the money. If you're famous enough to get a Walk of Fame star, you have access to somebody or something to pay the bill. In this case, since the ceremony was outside Capital Records, Capital Records likely footed the bill. $75,000 is a drop in the bucket to them. But the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which is responsible for the Walk of Fame, has to make money somehow. They have to pay to close down the streets, they have to pay for security, they have to pay for the businesses affected by the shutdown. Plus, they have to pay for maintaining the star for hundreds of years.

As a Michael Jackson fan myself, he actually reminds me a lot of him. Not only the long hair, Aviator singlasses and doing the peace sign to the crowd. His presents and way if talking is similar to Michael. Seems very calm, intelligent and down to earth. Obviously not as shy as Michael was, but surely an introvert guy.
