Just know this, if you're new to kpop or Asian entertainment scene in general. Just like you can't compare anybody with Psy and BTS, likewise you can't compare anybody with GD. At least in the Korean entertainment sphere, he's the one & only showman in the scene. Don't question him, just follow him, he may not be the greatest in the whole world like the other names I mentioned but sometimes you don't need to be the greatest of all time, sometimes you just need to be you and the great one of your time.. and that's what GD is.
