owww, u should tell them the meanings too, because they dont read the lyrics (are newbies, is normal wanting to see the visuals, for that i recommend to u tell them what the song means), the truth untold is based on a story (italy) of the smeraldo flower, and is so heartbreaking the song when u know the meaning of the story. the whole lyrics is talking abt it: the garden, the flowers, the castle, the mask, the ugly man, the girl that steals the flowers... tomorrow's meaning is also heartbreaking and u can relate a lot.

I'm pretty damn sure this was not used in a K drama or a movie! They use original songs for that not songs based on novels or historical stories references! I'm not sure of the country but this is a song about a man that was born disfigured! So he hit hit away in his adult years in an old rundown castle. The only comfort and joy that he had was growing beautiful flowers in his garden! Until one day a young girl showed up and stole flowers out of his garden! First, he was very angry and was going to confront her angrily. Buddy kept watching her every night when she came to steal flowers and he fell in love with her from afar! He decided to make a special flower never before seen on earth for her to take. after he found out that she was taking the flowers to sell to make money because she was very very poor. Put the song ends just like the story with an unfortunate sad tragic event!

First I just want to say to Lenny and gang please don't feel you ever have to apologize for being "moved" to tears by art or any other beautiful thing in life. I was right there with you. I've heard "The Truth Untold' so many times over the last few years, and I still tear up. Anyway "The Truth Untold" was inspired by a story called 'La Città di smeraldo.' It's about an ugly man who lives in a magnificent Castle and falls in love with a poor woman. The story goes that this man was often ridiculed and hatred because of his ugly face, so he locked himself in the old Castle. He plants flowers in a garden near his castle. The woman comes and picks(steals) the flowers from his garden to sell because she is poor and needs money. At first the man is upset, but learns why she is stealing his flowers. He hides in his garden and watches her from afar because he's afraid to let her see his face. As he watches her come and pick the flowers regularly from his garden the man falls in love with her. After awhile he wants to be with her, but he's afraid she will be disgusted by his face. However, he wants to create a special flower that's never existed just for her to sale. I"ll leave the story there. It has a sad ending, but contains a good lesson. I'll post links to it. But many armys theorize that "The Truth Untold" has many meanings that can be interpreted by the listener. Some theoriies follow. The song talks about wearing a mask and not being able to show your true self. The man in the story is ridiculed for his looks. When it was first learned in Korea that RM was debuting as a idol, he was ridiculed a told he wasn't attractive enough to be an idol. He had been an underground rapper in Korea when he was discovered, and the public said his persona was inappropriate for an idol. (Suga and Hobi had similar things said about them as well. ) Idol's are suppose to be very attractive, maintain their appreance, keep a good reputation, etc, for the younger generation to look up to. Basically Korea is very strict and conservative, and they have insanely strict beauty standards especially for idols who are expected basically to look and be perfect in the public eye. (Even "everyday" "normal" people have pressure about their apperance and looks. That's why you see even men wearing make up in Korea. Everyone is pushed to go to college be the best to get the best job. So many people are highly qualified and are competing for the same jobs so if you are attractive, well groomed, etc. you are more likely to get the job. The best looking person usually wins out because everyone is equally qualified and a pretty face makes the company look good. Not my words or thoughts just an article I read.) RM had a lot of pressure on him when he desided to become an idol. Even his old rapping "friends" made fun of him for wanting to become an idol and said basically he was a sell out, to put it nicely. He had negativity coming from all directions for his choice to become an idol rapper and be in BTS. The other members have had difficulties and back stories as well that make them relate to the story 'La Città di smeraldo.' The members and idols in general feel insane pressure from the public because of the strict standards of the industry and Korean standards, they feel at times that can't just be themselves and have to wear a mask and fear if you knew the true them you woud not like them. But through Army's support and love BTS have seen how they are still loved even when they aren't perfect. They have been inspired to speak out and have been very instramental and powerful voices against these kinds of pressures. They have even gotten to the point that thei do lives "bare faced" and in comfortable clothes etc. knowing that Army love them as they are and won't reject them. This song can also be for the listener to gain courage and strength to be their true self. We all have weaknesses, things we don't like about ourselves, things we think are ugly, and try to hide or mask because we fear rejection because of those things. It's basically saying accept yourself and don't be assamed of your weaknesses, mess, or ugly because no one is perfect, and we all have shortcomings. Don't hide but have courage to be you. I could go on forever about this song.
