Lyrics:
I was lying on the grass on Sunday morning of last week
Indulging in my self defeat
My mind was thugged all laced and bugged all twisted wrong and beat
A comfortable three feet deep
Now the fuzzy stare from not being there on a confusing morning week
Impaired my tribal lunar speak
And of course you can't become if you only say what you would have done
So I missed a million miles of fun
I know it's up for me
If you steal my sunshine
Making sure I'm not in too deep
If you steal my sunshine
Keeping versed and on my feet
If you steal my sunshine

Born in 78. The 90’s and early 2000’s were great. No cellphones all over the place. No social media. You would just roll up to someone’s house to see if they were there. I wish I knew then, how special those times were.

@@kieranmckenna850 Optimistic in the 90s? Ha! We had a global recession then, it was hard to find jobs, those were dark times. Honestly the 90s weren't very different to now except the internet was in its infancy and pop music wasn't dominated by Taylor whatshername and others like her where all their stuff is all written by committee and computer programs.

This was my brother's favourite song. We used to listen to it all the time. He sadly left us a few years back. He had a brain condition. He stayed really cheerful up to the end and said he didn't want anyone to be sad, but just to remember all the good times we had together. Miss you every day bro.

'83 here, graduated in 2001. This song takes me back to that beautiful end of the 90s where my summers were spent hanging out at the local waterpark in the blazing hot summer sun, laying on an innertube, listening to the 90s jams pumping out of the nearby speakers with not another single care in the entire world other than THAT moment right there. The 1980s was the end of the fun and innocent era because in the 90s school shootings started. It started with the columbine high school massacre and then continued on. We had the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, grunge music glorifying mental illness and suicide. We had musician over dosing and literally committing suicide also gangster rap glorifying murder rape and prostitution (pimping) Rap artists killing each other because of the West coast East coast rivalry that killed 2 pac and biggie smalls. America in the 1990s became a violent place

I was attending graduate school in Ft Lauderdale when this song came out. The whole vibe just reminds me of a simpler time in my life. Surrounded by beautiful locales, no concerns about future or finances, but rather just focused on my friends and having a good time. Following this carefree period, I then went on to serve as a military psychologist (primarily with Special Operations) for 21 years; this timeframe included many challenging relationships, divorce, combat deployments, injuries, and long work hours. And I also agree with everyone crushing on Sharon. What a little cutie!

Man do I miss the late 90s. 1998 i was 18. Being a teen in the 90s was awesome! No worries, no cell phones, no social media. Friends, parties, music and movies. Man do i miss the closeness. Especially calling each other on actual phones and talking for hours. Today's world is falling apart and it does not even resemble anything back then. Sad really.

This is why it's so important to learn to live in the present, otherwise you'll always be wishing for another time. Speaking of the 90's, Cheryl Crowe had a song called "Soak Up The Sun" which has a lyric in it that's apropos: "It's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you got."

I was a kid their age in the 90s and experienced most of my 20s during that decade. Life was fun without mobile phones and social media. You were nervous as you actually had to call a girl... You were intoxicated by the look in her eyes as she looked at you and her smell when she got close to you, and NOT by her filtered photos on an app. What's making you sad today when viewing this video is the simplicity with which they seemed to enjoy life: in other words, you have 'too many' options today. We had fewer layers of complexity to our lives as young adults but far fewer tools available. The access to knowledge people have today is insane. Trust me, anyone in their 20s today has infinitely more possibilities, resources, and chances to make a decent life for themselves than back then. You just don't see it as there are way too many distractions. Nothing is stopping you from having this much fun, except the illusion of choice. There are so many extraordinary things created today, and you shouldn't live your life in nostalgia.
