@@SoterDave It's more that Lenore realized that as time passed, she would eventually become just like Carmilla (remember, as a vampire, Lenore would easily outlive a human like Hector, and he was basically her "anchor" that helped her to stay sane and find real joy in her life. Once he was gone Lenore would have been truly alone, with nobody to save her from that loneliness, and she would eventually have turned into a cruel and bitter woman....and likely one who endlessly longed to have Hector back, and in that regard there would even be a distinct similarity between Lenore and Dracula himself), and Lenore didn't want to turn into another Carmilla (or descend into grief-stricken madness like Dracula had), so she chose to die while she was still capable of feeling compassion and love for someone else.

I know right, she was a very complex character and intriguing. I wanted her and hector to be happy. And they went more into her psyche in season 4 and i think it shows that she never actually wanted to harm anyone but had a bad infuence from carmilla, like i dont think she actually wanted to enslave hector at the end of season 3 (hence the conditions she told the sisters so he wasnt a prisoner, it in some way frees him at least) plus the whole pet thing she says at the end i think is untrue as she keeps seeing him and protecting him from carmilla and went to get him to safety in season 4 she didnt care what happened to her. Doesnt seem like she treating him as a pet. she fell for him when they first met but her infuence from carmilla,feelings for him,her own morale and vampiric nature brought in a lot of complexities for them to be together and her character.

"Is that all there is to it ?" Lenore faces dawn and the sun for the first time in her long, immortal life, yet decides to stare at Hector in her final moments, realizing the beauty of Dawn is nothing compared to Love - the one they had - hence her "Hector, you *are* a silly man"
@JotaP1n3 жыл бұрын
I think peope didn’t get Leonere’s last words. Her words means that although she loves Hector, his human world means nothing to her so at the end she didn’t feel regrets about her last decision. She died proud of being a vampire and being free. It’s a goodbye like “ok Hector, I love you but I don’t want to live in your world”.
@Suijen862 жыл бұрын
100% on point. She was never impressed with the sun. Lenore means light, and her name is a reference to the Lost Lenore, so her death was foreshadowed. She turned away from the sun because she'd rather spend her last remaining time looking at the person who valued who she is and saw the "value and beauty" in her. He was her sunlight in a world of eternal darkness. That's poetic stuff.
@shahmanjarulhasantasnim1992 жыл бұрын
@@JotaP1n She called Hector silly because she knew Hector was falling for her. She was a vampire, lived for 200 years. Seen love, Seen death of her loved ones. @thefairybug403 жыл бұрын
They did get a happy ending. Or maybe 'bittersweet' is a better word. Lenore deliberately gave him Stockholm Syndrome in season three. You could even make the (very well-founded) argument that she sexually assaulted him. He cared about her, yes, but it was all based on her evil manipulation of him. It's not a happy ending just because he was free of her -- it's happy because she truly saw the error of her ways. Hector may have freed himself of her magic, but only Lenore could free him of what she'd done to him. Her cruelty had taught Hector caution and cunning, but it had also enslaved him, and she now recognized that sin for what it was. She made him stronger, but now she needed to let him go. It was the only kindness she could give him. And she'd also seen her own possible future in Carmilla's madness, too. So she chose to die as herself, rather than someday being killed as the monster she feared becoming. Furthermore, in Isaac's new world, she knew she was too dangerous to trust. She had no place, no role to fill. No life. Her stability was gone, recognized for the fragile rigidity it was. She had realized that the 'vampire's virtue' was no virtue at all, but the antithesis of the chaos and necessary change that makes life what it is. The world, she knew, would keep evolving while she remained the same. She knew that better than ever when she saw the beauty of the sunrise and yet was too set in her ways to be moved by it. It was time to take her leave, freeing both Hector and herself from her own stagnant permanence. Definitely bittersweet, but still ultimately happy.

Definitely a better love story than Twilight, jokes aside this was a vey sad yet bittersweet moment, Lenore truly freed Hector from herself here and sacrificed the love she harbored for him. She knew she will suffer even more if they remain together and when hector will die, the love and longing for Hector would amplify by bounds and living would be even more unbearable. So she chose to free herself and Hector from this cursed bond of love they formed for each other. This would develop Hector more as a person and make him a stronger man. Lenore you will be missed, such a complex character with a beautiful forbidden love story, I am not as knowledgeable about the verse except what I saw in the series but I am sure Lenore will be proud of the man Hector will be from now on.

For someone cursed with immortality, embracing death was the most human thing she could do. The ultimate rebellion against her very own nature. Sun represents the very vigor of life. This reminds me this question from old game called "Planescape Torment" "What can change the nature of a man?" And on the end of your journey you can say this: "If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can. I’ve seen belief move cities, make men stave off death, and turn an evil hag's heart half-circle. This entire Fortress has been constructed from belief. Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not. Once, it made a man seek immortality and achieve it. And it has made a posturing spirit think it is something more than a part of me." But before have this answer you met "someone familiar to you" and he says "For me, regret is a thing that can change the nature of a man" Thinking about it I belive many things change Lenores nature... but most of them was this regret... and love.

I don't think Lenore died just to avoid being in a cage. I think she did it, realizing that as a vampire, she served no purpose to the world. All she could do was take, take, take. And nothing she could give back would equal what she needed to take to stay alive. Vampires don't focus on the now, they only wish to sustain their lives; she unwittingly admitted that herself. She wasn't the superior life form she thought she was. Realizing that in the end vampires all end up doing the same thing, she saw that her true nature was one of nothing but destruction and the pain it causes. She realized that Carmilla didn't become what she was at the end, she had been that way all along but with Dracula gone she could finally act on it. Lenore died, realizing that the life of a vampire isn't made more valuable because it lasts forever, but that the fact that it lasts forever makes it pointless.

Adding to what you said, this one quote by J.R.R. Tolkien, the Catholic writer behind The Lord of the Rings, is often paraphrased as “Evil cannot create, only mock”. Likewise, one reason vampires were popular antagonists in Medieval Christian folk tales is how they could represent an unholy mockery of Jesus Christ himself. In Christianity, the messiah resurrected himself with a “glorified body”, that was more alive and radiant than ever before, with the promise that all souls in Heaven too will have their bodies resurrected in such a way for eternal life. In contrast, vampires can only live forever as a hollow undead husk of their former selves, which even lose their power in daylight and can only thrive in darkness. And while Jesus can infinitely provide his own flesh and blood to sustain people, through the transubstantiated Eucharist, the vampire must infinitely take the flesh and blood of other people, to selfishly sustain its own existence.

To find the cages or to brake them. to build walls to protect the ones you love your to trap those you hate. life is meaningless with out an end. and so like a lotus of the moon she faded away with all her beauty and splendor. with the one she loved longing to hold her but knowing that this was the end.

damnit Hector, you could run to her and cover her up from the sun the moment she turn to see you one last time. God damnit, it takes days for me to recover from this...

once apon a time i viewed her as a coward, taking the easy way out, a permanent solution to a temporary problem...Now though I understand how she feels, trapped in my own cage, I understand wanting to be free, wanting out, saying damn the world ill go on my own terms...I look forward to the day I can set myself free. I hate this prison I live in

Haha

Hector and Lenore should have their own movie together. Im imagining Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario as cast 😊
