I had one of the original Duets and it was a really nice device. It wasn't amazing as a tablet but if you compromised in a few places it still made a good all-rounder. The price has gone up a bit now, but it's still cheaper than a Surface keyboard!

Hi, thanks for checking the video and the continued support of the channel. Definitely a versatile device. Yeah, as with all things the price has sadly bumped up, but in fairness it does feel like there are a lot of improvements here and hopefully a device that will perform better for longer into its update life than the original Duet, time will tell!

I've been negative about the 4K 60hz issue, but for me the rest is positive. I've read elsewhere that there's virtually no difference in speed between this and the older Duet 3. That may be true, but I'd argue that the Duet 3 was already pretty much fast enough. I'm not doing any heavy duty work on this Chromebook, but I don't understand why anybody who needs those requirements is even looking at this kind of device. I do, however, browse the internet, stream music, stream live sports, watch KZbin videos, have fast moving betting exchanges on the go, while having a bad habit of leaving too many windows open . Whereas the Duet 3 would occasionally suffer slowdown or even freezing while all that was happening I have had no such problems with this newer version. Having to buy and use an external hub, only being able to use my USB-C monitor's hub for power delivery while having to plug two cables into the Duet is an inconvenience, but having a more efficient Chromebook that also allows me to use 4K (much better for reading text) makes it a worthwhile upgrade for me.

It was just on sale on Lenovo's website and in addition to student discount,it came at $299 woth tax! I'm curious to see how well it performs compared to my HP Chromebook X2 11 though which I've been very happy with but it's starting to lag a little now.

I have the X2 and appreciate the fingerprint reader and SD card slot. I'll live with it until a 12” Chrome tablet becomes available, both for the screen and keyboard size. I tell myself the longer I wait to upgrade, the better device becomes available.

Hi, do you know what software you'd need to use? Is it availabile via the Google Play Store, browser or Linux compatibility?

How is it on the popular video services like Google Meet and Zoom? My original 10.1" Duet is almost unusable (forcing me to use a simple iPad 9 which has no problems with sharp images that don't blur and audio that doesn't break up or stutter). I travel a lot so it doesn't make sense to carry two devices just to have good Zoom.

Yeah excellent for Google Meet and Zoom is compatible and should be no problem. The FHD front webcam is pretty good as shown. I think the original Duet will just struggle in general as it is quite old now. The MediaTek Kompanio 838 in this new Duet does a decent job. If video calls are extra important you could also consider a new Chromebook Plus, as they will all have minimum FHD webcams and get some extra lighting and audio controls - kzbin.info/aero/PLNSLoCmFMc8qm1a5XOh5p3JMh4S2qPm6U

I'm not able to find them for sale anywhere in Belgium, but my searches and knowledge of Belgium retailers is of course very limited, so maybe that can help you in some way. Otherwise I'm afraid I don't have any more info, but if I do hear of something I'll let you know. Even in the UK it's interesting that you can't buy the new Duet 11" from Lenovo themselves. Can you only play play store games or can you get external games through steam or cd keys?

With a Chromebook and gaming in ChromeOS it's all about how you'd install or access the game. The obvious one as you say is via the Play Store, but as well as full games that way you can also install Cloud gaming apps (such as GeForce Now) to access libraries of games. There's also a main third way, installing via the Linux terminal if a game install is available that way. The lack of proper 4K @ 60hz support over USB-C kills it for me. I already have the 12.2" Lenovo Ideapad briefly shown in this video and regularly use it with LG/Apple USB-C monitors (4096x2304). Its also odd that its way thicker (21mm vs 18mm) and comes with a significantly smaller battery (29Wh vs 47Wh). Maybe Lenovo can fix the USB-C issues via a firmware update but if the Mediatek processor simply doesn’t support HBR3/DP1.4 over USB-C no firmware update could ever fix this. Intel has come under a lot of scrutiny recently but Mediatek has been a trash company for as long as I remember.

Where did you get the thickness measurements from though? I don't think the Duet 11" is thicker than the Flex 3i 12.2 inch, even when the Duet has the back cover and keyboard attached.

@MergeDroid thickness is roughly 2.6mm more according to Lenovo PSREF (18.4 vs 21.05mm). Don't wanna split hairs here but that's a lot and was instantly noticeable just by watching the video.

With regards to offline files it depends what you've accessed / sync'd recently. No apps as such aside from the M365 app, then it's accessed via the browser. Hi, sadly I only have FHD monitors as shown in the video. Double checking the Lenovo spec site though it does confirm 'USB-C supports up to 3840x2160@60Hz'. Are you testing with 1 monitor? Possible that your dock or hub is the constraint(?)

Originally I used it in 4k with an Acer Chromebook, but I wanted to switch to a Chrome tablet so until recently was using it in 1440 60hz with the Duet 3. I had been looking forward to getting this new version primarily to be able to go back to using 4k.

surprised you can drive the monitors like your video. I have this model of chromebook and connected to a Lenovo dock can only drive the internal display and one unique external monitor. Additional monitors all mirror the same. No way to adjust.

@@MergeDroid yes 11M889, Manufactured Date Sep 29/24. Tried two different usb3 docks and same results. All external monitors show as a single mirrored external monitor mirrored. Regardless the resolution. Lowest refresh rate is in the 59s. LEN T23i-10 monitors. Disappointing as I'd like to drive dual external displays when docked.
