Lenovo ideapad 100s not charging, no power repair

I had a similar problem on my laptop (same model). and internet forums suggested my charger was broken. I assume (now) the motherboard was frozen, because when I unplugged and replugged in the battery, my charger charged the battery again. thanks to videos like this, I saved a little bit of money, saved me from a lot of headache and learned a bunch. Thank you very much.

This solved my problem: exact same model lappy, I just unplugged the battery and plugged it back in, and the lappy came back to life. Must have been a board freeze. Thank you! Great video!

No low voltage protection. Battery is dipping some how. Battery will not accept charge with the laptop charger. It needs a spike to resume taking charge.

Hi. I have the same issue with my laptop as of now. I've been using my laptop for 3 years since we bought it and ot works perfectly fine. But the other day, the battery was drained because my charger's cord was broken and. And so.I bought another charger the next morning, not an original.one though, and when I tried it at home, it says charging but not increasing the percentage and remained at 0%. Then after a while, it turned off and the charging light no longer works and the charger as well doesn't charge my laptop. I asked the computer repair shop where I bought it and he concluded that the motherboard was affected. Hearing from you that the motherboard is not really affected, and you showing the laptop makes it clear to me that mine has the same issue as of that laptop.

I had the same issue with a DeWalt 18V lithium battery. I bought a genuine DeWalt adapter to allow me to use the slide battery in my older tools - but the older tools don't have over discharge protection built into them like the new tools do. Result was battery over discharged and would not charge again. The fix is to split the pack and apply a 9V tickle charge from a power supply and put in enough charge to take it over min level, and then the batteries charge fine again.

I bought a brand new Samsung phone on E-Bay very very cheap :) It would not come on, would not take charge. It had been left on till the battery ran completely flat, the store where it had been on display tried to charge it with a 5V charger to no avail, so they sold it off as faulty. I simply plugged it into a genuine Samsung Fast Charger which is 9V+5V and after one week ??? yes, one week, it came back to life with battery full. Lithium batteries are supposed to have controllers to prevent over discharge but clearly on some devices the manufacturer cheaps out on this protection circuit and the battery goes past low voltage limit and won't charge from the standard charger.

Hello Sorin, thank you for your informative and useful diagnostic procedures. In short, first check if the power supply voltage is coming to the board and look if 3.3v is present at the power button. If it is present super io will try to boot and the other voltages like 5v, ram voltage, core voltage should be measured. If one of these voltages are missing either there corresponding MOSFETs or caps are broken or check if you get 3.3 on gates of the MOSFETs. If there is no 3.3v on the gates, super io chip is bad and must replaced. For the MOSFETs can I use different manufacturers than the used one? Package size and pinout must be the same and also n or p channel types. Do you have a list with most used parts in laptop repair??? Wish you all the best and I thank you very much!

What I think is the battery was too low, taking much current, the charger can't deliver enough voltage to power the board, because it was fighting to deliver energy to the battery, ence the no lights in the begining.

Hello my friend. I have a Lenovo V470C and the motherboard has just gone. I also have a Lenovo G480. I replaced the HDD on the G480 a few years ago and just bought a cheap one. The HDD on the V470C is actually a better quality and runs much quicker. Do you know if I could strip the V470C and use it in the G480 or are they not compatible. Thanks?

Hi, I have a Dell laptop corei5 it has a problem once close the screen and open it again does not return back to work as a normal laptop in addition black screen but you can see the led and hear a fan of CPU still working sometimes leave it then if the screen went to sleep it will not return back till I switch it off with press on the power button and hold a couple of seconds can you give me your advice, please

Dear Sorin! Do you (or anybody here) have experience with Lenovoa Yoga not charging issue? Turns on, in the first few seconds it shows the charging icon (Windows 10) animated as charging but not really charging. Tried every software method, replaced motherboard, replaced battery and DC jack. Have read hundreds of forum comments worldwide on this, everyone has only the problem itself, no solution. Lenovo Support cannot say anything for this. That is an X-File.

azucho98 The battery was too flat, but the charger should be able to put out closer to 5v than it was, yes some cable voltage drop but i think the charger is not up to spec any longer. That machine seems a bit picky for it to charge the battery, the nearer to 5v the better. :-) Ooow love the dancing penquin :-D

R V Yep the charger is not quite as good as it should be, that machine needs as close to 5v as possible under full load. Ordinary laptops have a wider voltage range so the supply can drop more than a volt and the charging system wont give a dam. Just my opinion of cause.

Don't call it laptop. It's a tablet with integrated keyboard, a joke. It can't be normal for the original (if original) charger to lose 0,5V when it should provide 4A max @5v. The charger is weak or a joke like that "laptop".

Fix a surface pro 3 with no Bluetooth and no internet, must be a bad chip loose/cold solder. Hate opening this type of computer glass always break, that is why you always need the new glass.

hola soy cubano,tengo una laptop lenovo ideapad 100s, me esta presentando un problema ,como que parece que se quedo sin sistema operativo ,ella estaba funcionando bien pero necesitaba formatearla por presentar problemas en el sistema operativo, veo un tutorial de ustedes como formatearla ,y presiono las teclas fn y f2 y no me salio el menu de configurar las obsiones de boot,voy a salir de ahi y presono escape y me sale el letrero de lenovo y debajo otro cartel diciendome que estaba preparandose como para formatear algo asi mas menos ,mi siguiente paso es apagarla ,aparte no tenia la memoria lista y no habia salvado los progamas que tenia en ella y desde ese instante no quiere encender y me parpadean los dos led le pongo memorias con sistema ya preparado para instalar y nada ,me gustaria que me puedan ayudar ,estoy buscando por este medio si veo algo semejante a lo que me paso y no encuentro.....quien me pueda ayudar mi watsap es 5353232219
