With regards to the fans when its unboxed the fans must be done manually but when you update the Lenovo Vantage its cooling boost has been fixed to be automatic so they go on and off by temperature now.

I know it's an older video but the rapid charging feature lenovo has gives me ~1 hour charge time (~1-2 30-45min BF games and I'm charged). True the battery is low, but then again, I can get to 3+ hours on 40% brightness and power saving mode. Enough to get to a charger during the day on lectures and going around. Tho 5 hours is nonsense yeah

+BTNHD Awesome review, Lenovo should hire you on their team👍. I actually like this laptop, minus the number keypad, though my personal preferences is I do wish it had a memory card reader and a cd-rom drive of some sort. One thing I do notice is that the Y symbol looks alot like the upside down Y symbol for Mercedes Benz.

battery life is a down, but come on it's a gaming machine. you will need it plugged up because game won't work correctly if you don't have the laptop plugged up with the AC adapter.

This is a portable desktop rather than a laptop. Cause you'll need that power cable to do anything more than watching videos and sending emails for an extended period of time. I have the Lenovo y7000 (which is 27mm thick and has a 170 watt charger compared to the 24mm 135 watt charger on the y530) and it definitely is not the mainstream college machine with it being marginally big and heavy.

BTNHD it wont, not until they put the new generation of gpu's at the end of the year, but even then, there is no need to upgrade if you have a laptop with a 7th generation cpu and gpu like 1050ti, 1060 or higher ...y530 has 1050 gpu, y520 comes with 1050,1050ti, 1060 3gb and 1060 6 gb versions.CPU is not that better than i7 7700hq. If you have a laptop with older cpu...like 4th or 5th generation and gpu lesser than 1050 it will be a good uprade, but not if you have something newer.These are not smartphones, these are machines that should work in the next 4-5 years without need for any upgrade.

Was the battery test with Nvidia Optimus? I’m pretty sure you can turn off the Nvidia graphics card and use the intel integrated graphics to extend battery life. I’m guessing that’s how they get the 5 hours.

Go with the gtx1050ti if that's all you do . 1650 is only a slight improvement over the 1050ti for gaming and slight fps boost. 1650 is only an update for 1050ti. If both of them are priced close then go for the 1650.
