Worked perfectly for my Lenovo T440s! Thank you! The strange thing was that I had worked with the laptop only one hour ago. When pressing the power button, the laptop beeped continuously. So, I had to do a hard power-off. Afterwards, the laptop reacted neither when plugging in the cable nor when pressing the power button. You trick saved my evening!

Hey Jay, this was a life saver for me! I bought thinkpad t430 for some SEO work and I have left it in a cupboard for a few months. I tried to power it on yesterday and not dice. The fingerprint reader scanning my prints, but kept saying they were incorrect. This was because it was not able to check with the hard disk as it was not running. On the t430 the memory slot also gives access to the BIOS battery and socket. Pulling that socket for a 20 seconds and reconnecting got me up and running again. Thanks so much!

wutdafuuh not a problem but if it does happen again I would suggest getting the motherboard replaced. Should only take 1 hour max if he or she knows what they are doing. So your down time should be minimal

Your welcome but if it does happen again I would suggest a motherboard replacement. Lenovo is pretty good and just replacing it and a pro would take 45 mins max. I have replaced so many of them.

Hey Jay, Thanks for this video. It fixed my problem. In my case battery got drained out probably in night time and it did not come up in morning. I tried Lenovo helpdesk, and we went with few usual steps like 1)removing battery and then Keeping the power button pressed for 30s to drain out battery and then trying to boot up. It did not work. 2) Then we repeated above step and as well did the reset. It failed too. It was concluded that motherboard needs to be replaced. Just as last resort I tried your step on my own and viola... it worked. So thanks for this wonderful video. :)

This is a old video but here is a update for atleast the x240/x250 with this issue. The main issue for these no powers is a short in the camera cable. If you replace it you will stop having this issue.

WOW. Just went through this. Took me over an hour(I'm very methodical....) It worked!! I was blown away. The power cam right back on. A tip: You talk a little too fast, and your edits are kind of rough. You actually do some edits in the middle of your sentence. Rewatch your video, it's hard to tell what you are talking about when you are inside the laptop. I had to rewatch several times.

Hi there. I have a Lenovo x230, got it 6 months ago, almost new. Used as second laptop. Yesterday it did not start on. Power button lights on, green color, the keyboard and the webcam lights on, also the speaker and microphone buttons (orange color) and the icons of the wifi and CPU on the lower screen bezel lights on when I push the power button. Then all go off except for the power button. The only thing that does not lights on is the finger print sensor, which blinks always in green color. No noise at all, no beeps, just the vibrations of the CPU (HDD) when touching the PC underneath. After a couple of minutes, it feels a little hot underneath, where the CPU units go. What I have done to check it: 1. Power button test, pressing it for 1 minute while no battery o power cord connected. 2. Remove of the CMOS 3. Remove of the RAM sticks and replaced by similar from a running PC. 4. Tried booting without CMOS 5. Tried booting without RAM 6. Tried booting without HDD 7. Tried booting without KEYBOARD 8. Tried booting without PALMREST 9. Left overnight without battery and power cord. 10. Tested the CMOS with a multimeter, resulting in 3V reading. I refuse to think the motherboard is toasted, so I hope someone might have some experience in what could be the fault. Things to look out: the finger print scanner and the fact that the CPU get warm (while the power button shows on), as in a regular PC when working. Also, the fact that the computer behavior at starting attempts with and without CMOS battery is the same. Provably the BIOS chip? Note that I have not tampered with this PC at all. I bought it from a Lady that almost never used, she got it as a payment, and stored it. Since I have a T440P as daily use, I did not start use the X230 much, which is stock in hard drive, RAM (4) and everything else, so it is very slow. Unplugged from mains power, disconnect batteries, wait at least 5 minutes and or hold the power button down for 30 seconds. After reconnecting the batteries you'll need to plug the laptop into mains power it gave the power back for it to come back on

However, after reconnecting the internal battery ( no apparent CMOS battery that I could see on my X250..but there is an empty cradle for what looks like a battery slot) I replaced the back and just switched on....and hey presto!...she fired up....without the external battery or power lead.....I then slotted the battery back in and everything is fine and dandy 😉.....really appreciate your video tutorial....many thanks Rob UK

X250 carbon? does have one and most likely you have to take apart more of the laptop to disconnect the CMOS battery

@@jasonflt no idea 'Carbon' or not....looks similar you yours in the video....just says X250 bottom right. With the back off, found the internal battery connection just as you said.....but where the CMOS location is on yours....on mine just aluminium battery clip/slot for what looks like a fairly large ;button type' battery.....but its empty. Anyway, just disconnecting the internal battery did the trick....many thanks !

Updated your BIOS. Use Lenovo software suite to do that and any other driver updates. If it keeps happening use your warranty of you have any left. Check the Lenovo website.

Reseat the ram, cable etc, give that a try as well. Also connect an external display to see if it boots all the way to windows. You may need to try to get into the BIOS to adjust boot devices
