Well this is was timely, I was looking for a laptop for college and I've always been fond of Thinkpads so I almost got a T14s until I learned the P14s comes with a GPU. Got a gen 2 with all the bells n' whistles at a big markdown since they're discontinuing them. So, thanks for the review

@@lazarsekulic2694 The battery life is ok. I can get about 5 hours doing classwork. Runs hot but really it's expected from a thin laptop with a D-GPU.

please adjust your voive volumn to be as loud as your title song (jingle or whatever you called it) if you can. It shocked me every time I have to raise the volumn trying to hear what you said when the video started and then, WHAM! ears exploaded, then I couldn't hear what you're saying again. Other than that, GREAT REVIEW!

More of an entry level workstation, the NVIDIA T550 gives low GPU performance for a workstation.

The *T14* (non s) is closer to the P14s. It is available in Intel or AMD versions. It has an integrated GPU in both versions. It is slightly thicker and a tiny bit heavier than the "s" version. It also has an ethernet port. The Intel version has one soldered stick of RAM and one user upgradable SODIMM slot. But the AMD version has only soldered RAM so is not user upgradable. The T14 is usually cheaper than the T14s. The *T14s* is the thin and light variant. It is thinner than the T14 and also has an integrated GPU. It is again available in an Intel or AMD version. Both versions have soldered RAM so are not user upgradable. This version has slightly better case materials so feels a little bit more premium (but not to the same extent as the X series). It is missing an ethernet port but has options for a slightly larger battery and is a usually a little more expensive than the T14. This is the more portable version with a little bit better battery life and better case materials at a slightly higher price. The *P14s* is not the same as the T14s. It is actually the same case as the T14. So it is closer to that model. It is slightly thicker and heavier than the T14s and is again available in both Intel and AMD versions. But there are some key differences between the T14 and P14s and also some difference between the Intel and AMD versions. The P14s is meant as a slightly more powerful workstation version. The Intel version has one soldered RAM and one user upgragable SODIMM slot. But there are options for more RAM on the P14s than the T14. The Intel version also has an optional dedicated NVidia GPU. This is a fairly low spec dGPU but could be useful for programmes that use CUDA or possibly very light gaming. However this comes at the expense of battery life which will take a big hit with the dGPU. Get the P14s Intel if you need CUDA or lots of RAM. The P14s AMD is almost identical to the T14 AMD. In almost every way it is the same; same processors, all soldered RAM and no option for a dedicated GPU. But there are options for more RAM and the integrated Radon 780m GPU is not much slower than the dedicated NVidia GPU on the Intel version. But... it lacks CUDA. The P14s price varies a lot. In theory it is more expensive than the T14 but I have seen it for sale at less money. So sometimes this is a way to get the cheapest machine. Get the P14s Intel if you need lots of RAM, CUDA or light gaming. Get the P14s AMD if you need lots of RAM or it is on sale for a good price compared to the T14. I have also heard one other difference with the P14s but have not personally seen this in writing. I have heard that the TDP (the total power available to the CPU and GPU) is set slightly higher in the P14s. So it might be able to sustain higher CPU speeds for longer. If that is true (and I can't confirm it) then it would be very slightly faster than the T14 and T14s but at the expense of battery life and fan noise.

@@allworksnew I'm not into music production so I can't answer for sure. But if Windows has the software you need to run then it should be fine. The speakers are poor but I assume for music production you would use a headset (and it still has a 2.5" headset jack).
