Lenovo ThinkPad T460s in 2024! Review, Gaming, & Video Editing

The previous owners of my company had these and the new owners did an equipment refresh and ditched these. I kept a few of them. I maxed out the RAM and upgraded the NVME on one of them. I did a refresh of Windows but the OEM license was still in the system. I use it as a travel laptop and it's pretty fast.

I really like the case material and easier access to internals on the "s" series, enough to make me want to use one over a different option.

To get to the BIOS it is a more fast way by hit the SHIFT key while go to START menu and choose SHOOT DOWN. This turns off the fast boot for the next start only, you not have to deactivate and reactivate manually like in your video. Works with Win 10 and Win 11.

True, that is another way to access BIOS. I suppose I wanted to show how to activate/deactivate the option within Windows.

Is it preferable to use it with the charger when using somewhat heavy programs or not? I have little experience with laptops.

Well, yes if you disable or remove the battery. If possible, to improve battery integrity, it might be a good idea to toggle between the two options. Take that from a self-taught tech guy, I am not an expert.

Hello there. I have a T460s that I bought a year or so ago and overall I like it. The only issues I have had with it relate to power. When I first got it, both batteries were healthy, but it would shut off when switching between batteries for some reason. That problem just fixed itself - no idea how. But now that both batteries are getting worse, a similar issue has arisen. Sometimes it just shuts down by itself. One battery is worse than the other - the shorter one. Is this the Primary battery which is used first? I find the Battery 1 / Battery 2 thing a bit confusing to be honest especially as both are internal. As I mostly use it at home, I don't really need to run it off the batteries for long and they aren't cheap where I live. So I'd like to ask, is there any reason why I can't just run it with one and take the other out? if so, does it matter which one? And finally, do you think this will solve the shutting down issue or is that something else. Thanks.

Good question, I am not sure about the shutting off issue but removing one is no problem. The T460s is fairly easy to open up. Let me know how it goes and if you find a solution.

i also have this , but is unable to play hevc files , and lags a lot in 10bit compressed files, my 11 years old x230 with 3rd generation chip can play that.

What are you using to try and open the files? what are the hardware specs of your T460s?

I would not expect to play either of those games very well at all. You probably want to save up for something like a ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 AMD.

Valorant on low settings and lowered resolution. Roblox I am sure you will be fine.
