What a great testimonial.

I am at 13 months post-op, and my negative dysphotopsia has improved somewhat, but is not completely gone. Is there still a possibility of it disappearing, or should I start thinking of exchange?

What I would love to know is does the sulcus placement of lenses feel any different physically in the eye as lenses placed in the bag after the surgery has been performed and the patient has recovered? I have fine vision multifocal lenses in my eyes with open bag and have been told that due to unclear vision we may need to replace the lenses with a lens in the sulcus. I can almost swear I can feel the lenses in my eyes that are currently in the bag placed. I would love to hear the patient in this videos thoughts and opinions on this as well as Dr Wongs if he has any thoughts on this issue or has heard of other patients in the past complaining about the potential of actually feeling the lenses in the eyes. Thanks

Great video! I stopped using Acrysoft about 10 years ago myself.

You might consider the clareon version of the Alcon lenses.

@@ShannonWongMD thank you. Fortunately in Europe we have quite a selection of IOLs to choose from.

Been watching DR Wong's videos for years before I decided to have cataract surgery on both eyes in 2022. Specifically asked my surgeon for the Clarenon Panoptix lenses after have watched previous DR Wong's videos on glistening. A few weeks after the operation and getting the prescription boxes my lenses came in I saw the were not Clarenon lenses but the old material. When I asked the doctor about this he gave me some bs that the only real difference was in the haptic design and that the rest was marking and there was no real difference in materials as far as glistening was concerned. Of course I don't believe him and figured he was just getting rid of old stock. Even if they were not available at the time, I called the company and they said they were , I would have waited. Not only did I not get what I thought I was paying for but now I have to live with the uncertainty of something I was trying to avoid. Shows you how rare a DR like DR Wong is. I spent a lot of time researching the DR in my area I went to, who had an excellent reputation, but just turned out to be full of it.

Wow. Sorry that happened. I have had 3 surgeries and every time I made sure the IOL was what I wanted. The first surgery the doctor just gave me the IOL boxes before the surgery. The second surgery the IOL name and model was written next to my name on the chair/bed. The 3rd surgery also they confirmed the model number upon my request and did not mind me asking that.

Good for you. Never entered my mind that a highly rated doctor would pull a stunt like this. @@aniketnavalkar5974

Shannon as you know I've removed dozens of these Alcon IOLs for severe glistenings and sub surface nano glistenings (SSNG) over the last decade and have many, many patient testimonials. Here's a link from 5 years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZnFl6SLfbqbn7c I first approached Alcon about this problem in 1998 to complain about it and in 2005 they told me they had solved the problem with the new single piece lens. Of course they had not. They have lied about this repeatedly over the last 20 years to me personally and to my colleagues and I've given up on their IOLs for the most part because I don't trust the material or the company behind it. Clareon is supposedly glistening free but we don't know about SSNG and haven't seen the test of time yet with this material so I stay in the "PROVE IT!" category of skeptics regarding the material.....especially given it's issues with chromatic aberration and straylight reflections, edge glare etc. which have not been improved. Hope all is well! Office looks amazing!

Steve, You are absolutely correct! We probably have very similar views of industry and how they promote their products. Glad to see that your son is going into ophthalmology!

What was the post op visual acuity ?

The lack of fixation on anything suggests low vision. Hard to know what to do with testimonials based on a patient’s feelings. It does go to show that feelings matter.
