Thank you for the review. I got very good results with the kit lens. Compact and handy for street photography where I do not need low apertures.

Good lens ! At 28, f/4 < f/2 only 2 stops can easily be handled by current good auto iso . Recall the restriction w/ film, that's why u see fewer use of flash these days?

Great little lens attached to an a7iv almost full time for walk around. Good w/ all foc.lengths at all focal distances (including very close-up portraits. what distortion? nonsense !) I enjoy this lens as much as my m-mount 40mm f/2 (my most used on rf L's) which I adapted to use as a 60 almost full time on an a6 body for more than 3 or 4 yrs .( solved the a6 series battery problem, manual lenses don't suck up any power !)

Use it for street photography, I think it is fine. People after larger aperture is a culture foundated from film photography 20 years ago. With the much better sensors nowadays, I think it's good enough for general use.

It's primary value is the pancake form allowing it to fit in your pocket. Beyond that it's not impressive and lacks useful f/stop and range. It's not even remotely close to the IQ of the Tamron 28-75 G2 but I did pick up a used $200 28-60 for those times I'm willing to trade off IQ for pocketability. Got it for my a7cII.

I know detailed comparisons between the 2 Tamrons 28-75 G2 & the crazy 28-200 f/2.8-5.6 performed by a few reviewers When compared in the 28 to 75 range the G2 is only very slightly better in certain spots, so the FE 28-60 should not be that much worse than the G2. The 70-180 f/2.8 shows more better diff.

@@user-pg5rt7ju4f I've had the T 28-75 G1 and currently own the 28-75 G2, 28-200 and 28-60 plus the 70-180 G2 so my assessment if based on experience. The 28-200 is actually quite good and what I take when flying on vacation with one lens. Have been thinking of doing a test between it and the 28-75 & 70-180 combo. The 28-60 falls behind in every way- f/stop, range and the awkward zoom ring.

I think it a great value, if you purchase it used. I purchased it in anticipation of purchasing the 7C II when it was released. I purchased the A74 instead. I still use it on the A74 when I want a small and lite walk around set up.

I really wish it was a 24-50 like you, but I still keep this in my bag along with an 18mm and 70-300 :) - 28mm is what Leica Q uses so maybe another one to blame there! - at least it's not widest at 35mm like an X100.
