Poor Christopher, morally so much for being a dovote Christian. Sure he didn't mean it. Leo is an amazing player.not just composer, his Scarlatti is sublime

He didn’t mean it? No public apology? No rectification of the situation? Hmmm… I don’t know. 🤔 thanks for watching! ~Miguel, Guitar Lessons from Spain 🇪🇸

It seems harsh to accuse Parkening of stealing. Sure it is possible, but P. strikes me as an upstanding person. Maybe there is more to the story. Moreover, while I don't know the veracity of this but it is floating around that Brouwer sued Rhodes for his cribbing of Brouwers Simple Etude #6 in Diary of the Madman. By the way, I am a big of of RR.

Harsh?! Something obviously is up. Parkening didn’t credit the composer, Emilio Grenet or the arranger, Leo Brouwer. Instead it is credited as a “Traditional arranged by Jack Marshall and Christopher Parkening”. Parkening’s uhhhh… “arrangement” is pretty much exactly to Brouwer’s pizzicato, harmonizations, etc. Cuban guitarist, Jesús Ortega, was the first to record, Canción de cuna (Berceuse) on his 1972 album, “de nuestra guitarra...”. Ortega credited both Grenet, the composer and Leo Brouwer as the arranger. Parkening’s album was released in 1976. It still hasn’t been corrected in reissues. There hasn’t been any public apologies. ~Miguel, Guitar Lessons from Spain 🇪🇸

@@MiguelFerreyraGuitar Good points and fair enough. Though if true, definitely disappointing. But has anybody reached out to Parkening to confront/discuss this issue with him? From interviews it seems that Parkening is a pretty ethical person, so I wonder if something else is going on. Moreover, couldn't Brouwer sue Parkening for copywriter infringement, especially of it was so egregious and public? Plus it seems strange to me that Brouwer would praise R. Rhodes (if I understood him correctly), when he as well ripped off Brouwer. By the way, I love your interviews and enjoy them very much. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

@@mribeiro I also highly recommend listening to Leo play it himself. He does some improvisational stuff on it and he is truly Badass!!!!! 🔥 No one plays it like Leo. ~Miguel, Guitar Lessons from Spain 🇪🇸
