Reading and listening to his recordings in 7th and 8th grade got ne hooked on this man. During high school I ordered and read every book he's ever written. Since the invention of the internet his speeches can be found all on you tube I believe. This man and the books Black like me, The autobiography of Malcolm X, and 1984 changed the way I looked at and still look at life

This man helped me survive acute leukemia. I was very sick in a hospital bed and he came on tv. He railed to fight for life, to not miss life, to not miss love. It sunk in my mind more than anything religious. I owed my life in part to Buscaglia. The video I saw was called Speaking of Love. Great stuff.

I loved Dave's Late Night program but he showed very clearly (despite Leo's best-seller status) that most of the world's people are just uncomfortable and have a complete lack of ability to be deeply caring, connecting, touching (both physically and emotionally) and intimate.
@closetcleaner3 жыл бұрын
Why do you think this is that way?
@charmerci3 жыл бұрын
@@closetcleaner people have children because it's biology, certainly not because they know how to bring up a child. As an example, I was brought up by ordinary, caring parents who physically took care of me but emotionally kept their distance. As long as I didn't get into trouble and followed rules, that was good enough for them but left me lonely but socially somewhat uncomfortable. I can't imagine growing up being beaten, physically or emotionally.

Love has many layers to it. Love is not just an intimate relationship. He is right! We get caught up in looking for someone to love or something to love. First, Love oneself and everything else will follow.

You are correct. We're misguided so early in life, by so many and for so long that it feels like a detox when one tries to correct the course. Even to this day, I still see the traces of those influences from the past.

I'd read :, "Living, Loving & Learning" many years ago. Since this show IMHO I have a new term. "Random Acts of Kindness". Is there anyone that would dispute that everyone should show; "Love" by a …"Random Act of Kindness" on Daily basis? I've found that when you perform the least simple ; "Random Acts of Kindness"? It can be as simple as holding a door for someone that has issues. Those issues can be: Mother w/ an infant; Somebody that has a medical recent injury, an older person that can't move as quickly as the once would, and other things. I'd like to ask folks that they make the simplest of gestures... "Greet others w/ a Smile". You'll never know how that Gesture that take no more than a nanosecond can make their day better.

Appreciate your comment. Dr. Buscaglia is wonderful in so many ways. I bought his LLL book decades ago when I discovered it after getting the hell out of fundamentalism because I'm gay & it was a tool to fake 'change' me, when I was just fine. Came from a well-educated family, but 2 older siblings attacked me when I came out, which was extremely premature & naive. ...In more clever ways, they still do, to this fkkkn day. I have tried all kinds of listening & asking questions & so forth & the only thing they slightly understand, is extremely assertive/aggressive expressions of POWER. It's the ONLY thing that 'works', so to speak. They've destroyed my life, for their pathetic gawd. Hope this isn't too heavy. It's nice to see Dr. Buscaglia & thank-you for listening.
