Very sweet… and I shudder (in ecstasy) to realize that I first heard Leo play this at The Scholar coffeehouse in Minneapolis 54 years ago! The tune has changed and so have we all.

So many great memories of discovering all Leos stuff. Great story teller live too. Saw him many times.

How does leo kottke have so few subscribers. A man who changed my life with amazing art. Oh yea, the world is upside down, makes total sense!

Leo, himself, says his voice sounds like geese farts. It is difficult to compete with people like Alex Misko, that are light years beyond what Leo can play. Alex Misko is Mozart, and Leo is Salieri.

The charm of this is Leo's ramshackle rhythm. He's intentionally playing " off-kilter". That's his trade mark. The bass player is playing it " straight ", which makes the song sound " off ".

Thank you for that explanation. It really helps to understand this piece and to go back a time or two to listen to it. Nothing that has Leo Kottke in it can be bad to me, but, as you mentioned, this is slightly off kilter.

why the paper over the soundhole?

looks like he's trying to avoid feedback from the mic. His guitar is being recorded direct (you can see cable attached), so not imperative that mic is picking up the guitar. Mic is pretty far away from him too, so it's probably pretty hot in order to pick up what is surely a fairly weak voice at this point.

Known for incredible guitar work, I'm put off by your vocals. Not that they're bad, just that it's not the Leo Kottke I enjoy. Thanks anyway.

In all fairness, the imperfect nature of it makes it a hell lot more interesting than all the over-quantised bullcrap out there. Ol' Leo still has his groove and chops and his craft ages well with him, like only few others do.

From a "stage setting" probably in their houses, in the kind of times & the like that performers have to deal with right now. Look at the dang dates, and the Tiny Desk Concert backdrop. And maybe? Lower your expectations accordingly. Besides which, the heart of the play is
