Good morning Cap'n Great info as always. I remember, back in the day of wet cell batteries I was told not to store the battery on a cement floor. According to the old timer who told me this claimed it would drain the charge . To this day I don't place batteries on the concrete. Probably an old wives tale.

Lol, this an old wise tale that the colder floor would discharge the battery faster! While in fact it's actually heat that does this, not the cold! Battery's are completely fine on the floor!

I used AGM batteries on my waverunners. They were much better at handling being turned over when you’d try and flip them over. I’d imagine AGM also being more reliable with the rocking of the boat as well. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi capt , I’m a new subscriber to your Channel. Very informative thanks. Im getting set to retire and I’m seriously considering making an investment in a new Yamaha. Question? Can I attach a battery tender to shore power and hook it up to my house battery while docked so I can play music, hang on the boat with lights running without draining the batteries? I don’t think Yamaha boats are set up to have shore power right ?

Hey Dave, I'm hoping to be retired before long myself! You're right, we have no shore power option on these boats. They are designed to be trailered and not wet slipped. If you're not running high wattage amps you should be able to listen to music and enjoy the boat on battery power for quite a while on a two battery set up. If you're not driving around enough to recharge the battery I would plug into a battery tender or NOCO unit whenever possible. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
